Using the ITIL Process Reference Model for Realizing IT Governance: An Empirical Investigation

2014

Information Technology Infrastructure Library ITIL is a popular framework for IT governance, but little academic research on ITIL exists. The authors investigate the overlap between ITIL and IT governance practices to illustrate ITIL's potential to stimulate IT governance. A field study shows that IT implementation success is particularly influenced by group efficacy and organizational resources, and, to a lesser extent, senior-management involvement. Findings show that ITIL, as expected, is a framework that contributes to IT governance by stimulating process management practices.

Cultural Product Management from Environment to Territorial Context

2014

This chapter aims to represent the evolution of the cultural vocation of the territory with relation to the cultural product. The authors achieve this by adopting a holistic, viable-systemic approach. This approach proves useful to draw a better representation of the relationships existing among members of the territory - which is a prerequisite for the creation of any cultural product - and among them and the stakeholders to whom the cultural product itself is targeted. The authors consider the notion of relationship as a form of interactive connection determining - in causal fashion - a series of input-output effects among system members.

High-scale and pure online learning scenarios (like MOOCs) as well as blended-learning scenarios offer great possibilities to optimize the composition of learning groups working together on the assigned (or selected) tasks. While the benefits and importance of peer learning for deep learning and improvement of e.g. problem-solving competency and social skills are indisputable, little evidences exist about the relevant factors for group formation and their combination to optimize the learning outcome for all participants (in all groups). Based on the GroupAL algorithm, MoodlePeers proposes an plugin solution for Moodle. Evaluated in a four-week online university mathematics preparation cours…
