Seasonal periodicity of growth and composition in valves of Diplodon chilensis patagonicus (d'Orbigny, 1835)

Freshwater mussels of the genus Diplodon (Unionida) are common inhabitants of lakes and rivers in South America, and have slow growth and long life spans. We established the annual periodicity of incremental shell growth in Diplodon chilensis patagonicus (d'Orbigny, 1835) and calculated growth rates at different ages, using internal ring counting supported by dyeing methods and δ 18 O isotope analyses, in two Patagonian populations (Lago Steffen and its effluent Rio Manso Inferior, Argentina). Longevities of ca. 90 years (Lago Steffen) significantly extend the life spans reported in the past. Evidence against linkage of schizophrenia to chromosome 5q11-q13 markers in systematically ascertained families.

Ten pedigrees systematically ascertained in Germany were tested for linkage to chromosome 5q11-q13. In order to replicate the previous report by Sherrington et al (1988), families with a bipolar family member were omitted from the lod score calculations, all diagnoses were based upon Research Diagnostic Criteria, and four different models of the affection status were calculated, including the model for which Sherrington et al calculated the highest lod scores. None of the families investigated showed a positive lod score. Using multipoint linkage analyses, we were able to exclude the region for which a positive linkage has been reported.

This article wants to be a close reading of La Victoria, Federica Montseny’s novel published in 1925, in order to achieve two objectives: on the one hand, to break down the clichés that normally appear in Montseny’s work –her “revolutionary melodrama”- as a perfect example of the eternal “ethic-aesthetic” paradox and, on the other hand, to point out the capability of this kind of study to dynamize the so-called “women’s literature” in the context of the XX Century Spanish literature.

Metaforas sociālajos medijos un īpašos kontekstos, piemēram, metaforas politiskā diskursā, ir tikušas pētītas, tomēr pētījums par metaforām fitnesa treneru publikācijās sociālajos medijos nav ticis atrasts. Bakalaura darba mērķis ir pētīt un sagrupēt metaforu kategorijas, kuras ir izmantotas fitnesa treneru publikācijās sociālajos medijos. Izmantotās pētījuma metodes ir literatūras apskats un satura analīze. Rezultāti parāda, ka fitnesa treneri biežāk izmanto strukturālās metaforas nekā orientācijas metaforas un ontoloģiskās metaforas. Visbiežāk izmantotā strukturālā metafora ir FITNESS IR CĪŅA.
