Graves' orbitopathy (GO) is a disfiguring autoimmune condition, which can sometimes cause blindness (1). The disease has profound effects on quality of life (2), psychological health (3), and socioeconomic status (4). Progress in understanding and treating this disease has been slow. However, recent advances include delineation of plausible immunological mechanisms (5), development of an animal model (6), and publication of randomized studies defining the role and limitations of intravenous steroids (7), rituximab (8,9), and selenium (10). La vasta eco della vicenda giudiziaria che ha coinvolto un noto funzionario del Sisde ha riacceso i riflettori sulla revisione del processo, costituendo specifica occasione di analisi dei contenuti del vaglio preliminare dell’istanza, della declaratoria di inutilizzabilità degli atti nella stessa fase e, infine, degli spazi riservati al contraddittorio. Gli esiti concreti, collocati nel più ampio e recente dibattito sulla revisione, confermano la progressiva trasformazione ad opera della prassi del modulo procedimentale tipico dell’impugnazione.

A long road was necessary for economic and social rights to be internationally recognized. In fact, it was only after the Second World War that the protection of human rights, including economic and social rights, became one of the aims of the United Nations. Despite that, this legal protection was by no means made without controversies, especially when it comes to economic and social rights. The fact that most of the articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights refer to civil and political rights corroborates these difficulties.
