Les déterminants des diverses pratiques de lecture en éducation des enseignants
2000
International audience; Factors determining educational readings of teachers / Teachers have been accused of "educational illiteracy", though an active minority of them read intensely. Trying to go beyond these statements, this article takes into account actual educational practices and presents the most relevant results of an inquiry on teachers reading in education. Based on the assumption that belonging to a network would be the strongest factor determining reading practices, it shows that these practices significantly differ according to the type of network concerned. They also seem to vary in relation to some of individual teacher characteristics more than in relation to this represent…

1996
The impact of musical activities on learning achievements at the end of grade 1. When comparing two groups of pupils, one having benefited from a specific music program before entering grade 1 (2 or 4 hours per week at the least preprimary grade) and the other not, one finds out that this experimentation had a lasting positive impact on learning achievements. Indeed, an assessment of school performances in reading and mathematics at the end of grade 1 also shows that this impact proves even stronger one year later, especially when considering less bright children, non french or pupils with shorter preschooling experience. Hence, this experimentation has proved beneficial both on a pedagogic…

Mitigating deficiencies of generation Z through new educational methodologies in a business statistic course
2020
[EN] Nowadays, most of the students in first course at University are from the socalled Generation Z. Since a young age, these students have been used digital technology such as internet, mobile phones, tablets and laptops developing certain skills. But a large majority of these students have some deficiencies such as low knowledge of mathematics, scarce levels of motivation, concentration or logical reasoning and little patience (they want to understand everything quickly). These characteristics must be improved being a hard work to do by teachers. New educational methodologies are being adapted taking into account these digital skills and mitigating the deficiencies observed in some stude…
Physics demos for all UVEG degrees: a unique project in Spain
2016
Abstract The Physics Demo Project at the University of Valencia ( www.uv.es/fisicademos ) has developed a collection of physics demonstrations to be used during lectures. It consists of more than 130 experimental demos about different physics topics. More than 30 professors borrow them whenever they lecture on physics in any of our 40 courses in 17 different science or technical degrees, involving 246 ECTS and more than 3500 students. Each demo kit with a simple experimental set displays a particular physics phenomenon. An on-line user guide highlights the main physics principles involved, instructions on how to use it and advices of how to link it to the theoretical concepts or to technica…
Energy Savings through Integration of the Illumination Natural and Artificial, Using a System of Automatic Dimming: Case Study
2013
The reduction of electrical energy consumption in buildings is a subject of great interest in the international scientific community. In buildings with a lot of available natural light, designed with large glazed surfaces, the artificial lighting system is often oversized and cannot be divided into segments to meet lighting demands during daylight hours. This article presents an experimental study, conducted in a university lecture hall that has a glazed surface covering the whole wall at one end, which provides a level of internal illumination that is only sufficient for the area next to the window itself, even when the outside lighting conditions are very bright. It is therefore necessary …
