Taurine (TAU) is the most abundant free amino acid in many tissues and in particular in proinflammatory cells like polymorphonuclear leukocytes and tissues exposed to elevated levels of oxidants1. Furthermore, orally administered TAU has been reported to reduce lung oxidant damage from exposure to ozone, nitrogen dioxide, paraquat, amiodarone and bleomycin in animal models2–5.

Abstract Purpose: Antibodies against the lymphocyte PD-1 (aPD-1) receptor are cornerstone agents for advanced non–small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), based on their ability to restore the exhausted antitumor immune response. Our study reports a novel, lymphocyte-independent, therapeutic activity of aPD-1 against NSCLC, blocking the tumor-intrinsic PD-1 receptors on chemoresistant cells. Experimental Design: PD-1 in NSCLC cells was explored in vitro at baseline, including stem-like pneumospheres, and following treatment with cisplatin both at transcriptional and protein levels. The archaeological site of the Pré-du-Plancher is located to the east of Dijon (Burgundy, Côte-d’Or), at the footof a limestone hill in the Basmont valley. This site, dated from the late Bronze Age, is the first to include a stratigraphicalsequence for this period in Burgundy. The settlement comprises of three buildings and several dumps containing potteryfinds. The study of the pottery as well as the site’s stratigraphy clearly identifies three chronological periods dating from Late Bronze Age IIb to Late Bronze age IIIa (French chronology) or Hallstatt A2 / B1 (German/Swiss chronology). "Unter dem Etikett der 'Kommunitarismusdebatte' wird seit einigen Jahren der Umgang mit Differenz und die Integration unterschiedlicher Bevölkerungsgruppen in ein demokratisches politisches System kontrovers diskutiert. Der Streit zwischen 'Kommunitaristen' und 'Liberalen' entzündet sich üaber die Grundlagen der modernen Demokratie. Vereinfacht gründet sich für die Kommunitaristen Demokratie zuerst auf Gemeinschaft und für die Liberalen zuerst auf Gerechtigkeit. Die Kommunitarismusdebatte blieb trotz einer großen Zahl von Beiträgen auf die Analyse moderner westlicher Demokratien beschränkt und sie weist zudem ein 'soziologisches Defizit' auf.
