How critical thinking should be at the heart of digital interactions?

2018

In this paper, we explore how to teach critical thinking in the digital age, in order to promote the autonomy of practitioners. An interaction theory is proposed to identify the constraints that structure digital creativity. This model helps to design a critical pedagogy, linking without opposing a procedural approach to a reflective approach. The article presents an implementation of this model in a writing course on a social network. The study of students' activity logs shows the presence of forms of objectivity and reflexivity, reflecting the development of critical thinking. This approach offers a way to develop critical thinking not from the outside, in an argumentation or media analys…

El dinamismo conversacional: subsunción y feed-back. Carácter acumulativo de los elementos conversacionales

1992

Abstract Innovation and creativity are broadly used terms and Creative Economy concept is present in European and other countries policy documents, including EU policy, UNDP and other international organization strategies. 2018

espanolA medida que el foco de la investigacion del periodismo de datos se desplaza hacia el Sur Global, Iberoamerica es una region que permanece relativamente poco explorada. Models and Streams of Data Journalism

2015

This paper presents the initial results of a two-year research project, the Data Journalism Work Practices, which focuses on newsrooms in Finland, UK and US. Data journalism or data-driven journalism has been defined simply as journalism based on large data sets (or big data) Rogers 2011; Bounegru et al. 2012). According to our ongoing research on data journalism work methods, we can claim this has been an oversimplification. In this paper we will argue that all the brief definitions of data journalism lack nuances, and the multiple layers that contemporary data journalism already consists of in newsrooms. Based on six interviews of leading Finnish, American and British data journalists we …

Deliberative Democracy, Active Citizenship and Critical Culture: From Aristotle’s Rhetoric to Contemporary Political Philosophy

2013

The aim of this paper is to defend an adequate reading of Aristotle´s deliberative rhetoric that allows us to understand practical rationalization as a process of interpretation of human actions. After the consideration of rhetoric as a general human ability that is indispensable for political coexistence, the impact of the Aristotelian rhetorical proposal is presented, not just as a defense of the importance of rhetoric in a democratic society, but also as a novel attempt to understand what it means to speak of practical rationality.
