A Bioinspired Dinickel(II) Hydrolase: Solvent Vapor-Induced Hydrolysis of Carboxyesters under Ambient Conditions

2016

From the perspective of synthetic metallohydrolases, a phenoxo-bridged dinickel(II) complex [NiII2(L)(H2O)2(CH3OH)][ClO4]·CH3OH (1) (H3L = 2,6-bis[{{(5-bromo-2-hydroxybenzyl)(N′,N″-(dimethylamino)ethyl)}amino}methyl]-4-methylphenol) has been synthesized and structurally characterized. The presence of a vacant coordination site and a weakly bound water molecule provides the scope for substrate binding to act as a metallohydrolase model. Ethyl acetate vapor diffusion at 298 K to a CH3CN/CH3OH solution of 1 results in the formation of a pentanuclear acetato-bridged complex [NiII5(H2L)2(μ3-OH)2(μ-O2CCH3)4][ClO4]2·CH3CO2C2H5 (2), demonstrating for the first time the metal-coordinated water-promo…

Purification, crystallization and preliminary X-ray studies of sylvaticin, an elicitin-like protein from Pythium sylvaticum.

2003

Sylvaticin belongs to the elicitin family. These 10 kDa oomycetous proteins induce a hypersensitive response in plants, including necrosis and cell death, but subsequently leading to a non-specific systemic acquired resistance (SAR) against other pathogens. Sylvaticin has been crystallized using PEG 2000 MME as a precipitant agent in the presence of nickel chloride. The crystals belong to space group C2, with unit-cell parameters a = 99.29, b = 25.67, c = 67.45 A, beta = 99.66 degrees. Diffraction data were recorded to 2.1 A resolution at a synchrotron-radiation source.

Quantitative colorimetric-imaging analysis of nickel in iron meteorites.

2011

A quantitative analytical imaging approach for determining the nickel content of metallic meteorites is proposed. The approach uses a digital image of a series of standard solutions of the nickel-dimethylglyoxime coloured chelate and a meteorite sample solution subjected to the same treatment as the nickel standards for quantitation. The image is processed with suitable software to assign a colour-dependent numerical value (analytical signal) to each standard. Such a value is directly proportional to the analyte concentration, which facilitates construction of a calibration graph where the value for the unknown sample can be interpolated to calculate the nickel content of the meteorite. The…

Magnetic Properties of Ni II Cr III Layered Double Hydroxide Materials

2008

This paper describes the isolation of four layered double hydroxide (LDH) compounds having the general formula[NiII3–xCrIIIx(OH)6](CO3)x/2·yH2O [x = 0.57 (1), 0.69 (2), 0.81 (3) and 0.93 (4)] by using homogeneous precipitation methods and varying the metal ratio in the synthetic solutions. All the reported compounds have carbonate anions in the interlamellar space. This fact forces the interlayer distances to remain unchanged in all the cases, thus providing an ideal system in which the changes observed in magnetic properties can be correlated with metal composition along the hydroxide layers.(© Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. Nickel precursors based on diamagnetic and paramagnetic di(imine)pyridine ligands for magnetic materials: Synthesis, X-ray structures and magnetic st…

2018

International audience; Structural characterization and spectroscopic studies of the (2-acetyl-6-(1-TEMPO-imino)ethyl)pyridine (pat) and the 2,6-bis(1-TEMPO-imino)ethyl)pyridine (pbtMe) ligands are presented. Their electrochemical properties are also discussed. Two new nickel complexes, [NiII(dip)(CH3CN)(H2O)2](BF4)2 (1) (dip = 2,6-(di-iminepyridine)) and [NiII(pbtMe)(CH3CN)3](BF4)2 (2) have been characterized by X-ray diffraction. The reaction of 1 with the tetraethyl ammonium pentacyanopropenide salt (Et4N)(pcp) affords the new compound [NiII(pcp)(dip)(CH3CN)](pcp) (3) for which X-ray diffraction studies evidence an usual bridging μ2 coordination mode for the pentacyanopropenide anion, le…

A novel high-spin heterometallic Ni12K4cluster incorporating large Ni–azide circles and an in situ cyanomethylated di-2-pyridyl ketone

2005

Reaction of di-2-pyridyl ketone (dpk) with nickel acetate and azide in the presence of potassium tert-butylate as a catalytic base generates the title compound, which contains the largest [Ni(m1,1-N3)]6 circles in the discrete ferromagnetically-coupled MII–azide cluster family, and shows an unprecedented in situ cyanomethylation of ketone. An efficient and practical synthesis of [2-11C]indole via superfast nucleophilic [11C]cyanation and RANEY® Nickel catalyzed reductive cyclization

2015

A rapid method for the synthesis of carbon-11 radiolabeled indole was developed using a sub-nanomolar quantity of no-carrier-added [(11)C]cyanide as radio-precursor. Based upon a reported synthesis of 2-(2-nitrophenyl)acetonitrile (), a highly reactive substrate 2-nitrobenzyl bromide () was evaluated for nucleophilic [(11)C]cyanation. Additionally, related reaction conditions were explored with the goal of obtaining of highly reactive 2-(2-nitrophenyl)-[1-(11)C]acetonitrile () while inhibiting its rapid conversion to 2,3-bis(2-nitrophenyl)-[1-(11)C]propanenitrile (). Next, a RANEY® Nickel catalyzed reductive cyclization method was utilized for synthesizing the desired [2-(11)C]indole with h…

2015

This report describes the syntheses, characterization, crystal structures and magnetic properties of five dinuclear FeIIINiII compounds derived from two Robson-type tetraiminodiphenol macrocyclic ligands H2L1 and H2L2, which are the [2+2] condensation products of 4-ethyl-2,6-diformylphenol and 1,3-diaminopropane (for H2L1) or 2,2-dimethyl-1,3-diaminopropane (for H2L2). The compositions of the compounds are [FeIII(N3)2L1NiII(H2O)2](ClO4) (1), [FeIII(benzoato)L1NiII(H2O)(μ1,3-benzoato)](ClO4) (2), [FeIII(benzoato)L2NiII(H2O)(μ1,3-benzoato)](ClO4) (3), [FeIIIL2NiII(μ1,3-acetato)2](ClO4)·H2O (4) and [FeIIIL2NiII(μ1,3-propionato)2](ClO4)·H2O (5). 2005

The binuclear complex NiII2L(H2O)2(ClO4)2 (1) and the neutral tetranuclear bimetallic compounds [{MIII(phen)(CN)4}2{NiII2L(H2O)2}]·2CH3CN with M = Fe (2) and Cr (3) [H2L = 11,23-dimethyl-3,7,15,19-tetraazatricyclo[19.3.1.19,13]hexacosa-2,7,9,11,13(26),14,19,21(25),22,24-decaene-25,26-diol] have been synthesized and the structures of 2 and 3 determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction. 2 and 3 are isostructural compounds whose structure is made up of centrosymmetric binuclear cations [Ni2(L)(H2O)2]2+ and two peripheral [M(phen)(CN)4]− anions [M = Fe (2) and Cr (3)] acting as monodentate ligands towards the nickel atoms through one of their four cyanide nitrogen atoms.
