A new method of nanocrystalline nickel powder formation by magnetron sputtering on the water-soluble substrates

2018

Due to the accurate and relatively easy control magnetron sputtering is an attractive technique for the synthesis of metallic particles. This work describes a new method of nickel powder production by depositing nickel on the surface of sodium chloride particles which were used as the template and are soluble in water. Ni powder with flake-like structure was obtained after washing Ni coated salt particles in ultrasonic cleaner. Salt particles and nickel powder were characterized using scanning electron microscope (SEM), energy-dispersive x-ray spectrometer, XRD and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) techniques. SEM images showed that thickness of the received Ni particles varied in the …

Graphene as a carbon source effects the nanometallurgy of nickel in Ni,Mn layered double hydroxide-graphene oxide composites.

2012

[EN] Thermal treatment of the hybrid material formed by the spontaneous precipitation of graphene oxide and Ni,Mn layered double hydroxide leads to the segregation of nickel metal nanoparticles (Ni NPs) and the decomposition of graphene to CO2. Increasing the temperature increases the Ni NP size and results in the complete disappearance of graphene.

Electrochromic Devices Incorporating Cr Oxide And Ni Oxide Films:

2000

Abstract Transparent films of Cr oxide and Ni oxide were made by reactive DC magnetron sputtering in Ar+O2+H2. They displayed anodic electrochromism with charge capacities similar to that of W oxide. Cr oxide was stable in acidic environments, while Ni oxide was stable in basic environments. Electrochromic devices were made with pristine Cr oxide or Ni oxide films operating in conjunction with W oxide and a proton conducting electrolyte. Of the two oxides, Cr oxide film allowed device operation at a lower voltage span, while the device with Ni oxide film yielded a higher transmittance in the bleached state, a larger absorptance modulation, and a more neutral color.

Assessment of the electrochemical behaviour of Nickel-Titanium-based orthodontic wires: Effect of some natural corrosion inhibitors in comparison wit…

2019

Background The aim of this study is to assess the corrosion resistance behaviour of Nickel-Titanium-based orthodontic wires (NiTi) in different concentrations of Sodium Fluoride (NaF) and the corrosion's inhibitory effect of the extracts of some medicinal plants (essential oils, hydrosols and extract). Material and methods In this study we used NiTi (3M) and CuNiTi (ORMCO, 35°C, California) orthodontic wires. The following electrolytes were prepared: Lactate Ringer solution with additions of 0.1%, 0.5% or 1% of Sodium Fluoride and the extracts of different plants: Artemisia, Syzygium aromaticum (Clove) and Celtis australis. Corrosion resistance was studied using anodic potentiodynamic polar…

Ohmic contacts on n-type and p-type cubic silicon carbide (3C-SiC) grown on silicon

2019

This paper is a report on Ohmic contacts on n-type and p-type type cubic silicon carbide (3C-SiC) layers grown on silicon substrates. In particular, the morphological, electrical and structural properties of annealed Ni and Ti/Al/Ni contacts has been studied employing several characterization techniques. Ni films annealed at 950 degrees C form Ohmic contacts on moderately n-type doped 3C-SiC (N-D similar to 1 x 10(17) cm(-3)), with a specific contact resistance of 3.7 x 10(-3) Omega cm(2). The main phase formed upon annealing in this contact was nickel silicide (Ni2Si), with randomly dispersed carbon in the reacted layer. In the case of a p-type 3C-SiC with a high doping level (N-A similar …

Spinel-mullite composites with optical properties

1997

The aim of this paper was to study the synthesis and characterization of spinel-containing mullite based materials, using sol-gel techniques. Several gels were prepared, with nominal compositions 3(Al2−2xMx TixO3)·2SiO2 and 3(Al2−xMxO3)·2SiO2, with M=Ni+2 or Co+2 and 0.0≤x≤0.2, by hydrolysis and condensation of mixtures of aluminum, silicon and titanium alkoxides and nickel chloride. Dried gels were homogeneous and displayed a glass transition at around 750°C, which indicated that the system could be described as an amorphous silicoaluminate network.

Conductive Fused Porphyrin Tapes on Sensitive Substrates by a Chemical Vapor Deposition Approach.

2019

Abstract Oxidative polymerization of nickel(II) 5,15‐diphenyl porphyrin and nickel(II) 5,15‐bis(di‐3,5‐tert‐butylphenyl) porphyrin by oxidative chemical vapor deposition (oCVD) yields multiply fused porphyrin oligomers in thin film form. The oCVD technique enables one‐step formation, deposition, and p‐doping of conjugated poly(porphyrins) coatings without solvents or post‐treatments. The decisive reactions and side reactions during the oCVD process are shown by high‐resolution mass spectrometry. Owing to the highly conjugated structure of the fused tapes, the thin films exhibit an electrical conductivity of 3.6×10−2 S cm−1 and strong absorption in the visible to near‐infrared spectral regio…

Crystallization and microstructural development of nickel-containing aluminosilicate glasses with cordierite stoichiometry

2001

Abstract The crystallization behaviour of two glasses with chemical compositions MAl2O4/SiO2=1/2.5, being MNi and equimolar mixtures of Mg and Ni, was investigated. Glasses were prepared by cooling samples melted at 1650 °C. During thermal treatment over the range of temperature up to 1200 °C both glasses were first crystallized to form a β-quartz solid solution, then transformed to α-cordierite or spinel depending on the amount of nickel. The temperatures of both the crystallization of β-quartz solid solution and its further transformation were also dependent on the nominal amount of nickel. Lower temperatures were found for glasses with a large amount of nickel. UV–Vis diffuse reflectanc…

Exploring room-temperature transport of single-molecule magnet-based molecular spintronics devices using the magnetic tunnel junction as a device pla…

2019

A device architecture utilizing a single-molecule magnet (SMM) as a device element between two ferromagnetic electrodes may open vast opportunities to create novel molecular spintronics devices. Here, we report a method of connecting an SMM to the ferromagnetic electrodes. We utilized a nickel (Ni)–AlOx–Ni magnetic tunnel junction (MTJ) with the exposed side edges as a test bed. In the present work, we utilized an SMM with a hexanuclear [Mn6(μ3-O)2(H2N-sao)6(6-atha)2(EtOH)6] [H2N-saoH = salicylamidoxime, 6-atha = 6-acetylthiohexanoate] complex that is attached to alkane tethers terminated with thiols. These Mn-based molecules were electrochemically bonded between the two Ni electrodes of an…

2011

(44)Ti/(44)Sc radionuclide generators are of interest for molecular imaging. The 3.97 hours half-life of (44)Sc and its high positron branching of 94.27% may stimulate the application of (44)Sc-labeled PET radiopharmaceuticals. This review describes the current status of (44)Ti production, (44)Ti/(44)Sc radionuclide generator development, post-processing of generator eluates towards medical application, identification of ligands adequate to Sc(III) co-ordination chemistry, proof-of-principle labeling of (44)Sc-DOTA-octreotides, investigation of in vitro and in vivo parameters, and initial applications for molecular imaging - both in small animals and humans.
