Induction of Neuronal Differentiation in Neurosphere Stem Cells by Ellagic Acid Derivatives

A bioassay-guided fractionation of methanol extracts of stem barks, combined with screening based on Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF)-responsive neural stem cells (erNSCs) differentiation assay, has been used. This study resulted in the isolation of 3,3′-di- O-methylellagic acid 1, 3,3′-di- O-methyl ellagic acid-4- O-β-D-xylopyranoside 2, ellagic acid 3, and arjunolic acid 4. Among them, compounds 1 and 2 exhibit potent induction of neuronal differentiation in neurosphere stem cells with no cytotoxic effect. Ten new compounds, eight of them pimarane derivatives (1-8), together with a menthane dimer (9) and a totarane diterpenoid (10), were isolated from the leaves and wood of Tetraclinis articulata. The structures of 1-10 were established by using spectroscopic techniques, including 2D NMR spectra. Pimaranes 1-5 were found to possess an unusual cis interannular union of the B and C rings, which, from a biogenetic perspective, could be derived from the hydration of a carbocation at C-8. Ethiopian Semitic Languages

The article presents an overview of the Ethiopian Semitic (ES) languages spoken in the Horn of Africa. Among the presently spoken Semitic languages, ES languages comprise more than 80% and are divided into a northern and a southern group. Although this division is basically regional, there is a strong morpho-syntactic support for this classification. ES languages show a higher complexity in the use of concatenative and nonconcatentative morphemes for various grammatical categories. This rich morphological behavior, the SOV order, and other peculiar morphophonemic features are assumed to be the result of language contact, but sufficient data for this claim are still lacking.

Il lavoro riguarda le modalità operative dell'art. 162 bis, che appaiono differenti e aggravate rispetto all'art. 162 poiché l'attivazione del meccanismo è molto onerosa (a causa della necessaria pronta liquidità) e dunque in aperta contraddizione con la finalità deflattiva connaturata all'istituto. Altrettanto incompatibile con tale aspetto appare la subordinazione della concessione del beneficio alla valutazione discrezionale del giudice. Inoltre l'ambito di applicazione si presenta incerto con riferimento ad alcune categorie di reati sottratte alla depenalizzazione.
