OBJECTIVE In this retrospective investigation of patient pathways to psycho-oncological treatment (POT), we compared the number of POT referrals before and after implementation of electronic screening for POT needs and investigated psychosocial predictors for POT wish at a nuclear medicine department. METHODS We extracted medical chart information about number of referrals and extent of follow-up contacts. During standard referral (November 2014 to October 2015), POT needs were identified by clinical staff only. OBJECTIVE Introduction: Bronchopulmonary (BP) carcinoids are low and intermediate grade tumors, seen in adults between fourth to sixth decade, where no clear association with tobacco smoking is established. Most often they are sporadic lesions (95%). Half of patients have no symptoms and the tumor is incidentally found on a chest x- ray. The cytoskeletons of various human neuroendocrine (NE) tumors were analyzed immunohistochemically using antibodies against intermediate-filament (IF) proteins as well as by two-dimensional gel electrophoresis of proteins from microdissected tissue samples. All of the tumors studied were found to contain cytokeratin filaments and are therefore referred to as 'NE tumors of the epithelial type'. In addition, neurofilaments were found in most cutaneous and some pulmonary NE tumors, as well as in medullary carcinomas of the thyroid and in pancreatic islet cell tumors. Abstract Prostatic carcinoma is most often a multifocal disease, with areas of localized, well-differentiated adenocarcinomas coexisting with poorly differentiated lesions within the same tumor. Mast cells (MC), classically known as the primary responders in allergic reactions, have been recently indicate of prognostic value in prostate cancer. Multiple modes of cell death in neuroendocrine tumors induced by artesunate.

Abstract Background The paucity of effective treatment in neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) encouraged us to investigate the therapeutic value of artesunate (ART) promised by its inhibitory effect against various tumors and broad safety profile. Methods We evaluated the impact of ART on three NET cell lines, BON-1, QGP-1 and NCI-H727 on cellular and molecular levels. Results Our results showed that ART induced endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress through phosphorylation of eIF2α, which further gave rise to autophagy in all three NET cell lines. French patient-reported experience of diagnosis, management and burden of neuroendocrine tumors

Background: There is a lack of knowledge regarding the experience of patients with neuroendocrine tumors (NET) in France. Materials & methods: A patient survey that captured information on diagnosis, disease impact/management and awareness was conducted. Data of respondents from France were analyzed and compared with US data as a reference. Results: Key topics included delays in diagnosis, negative impact on quality of life, patient access to NET medical experts and treatments, and information on NET and treatments.
