Linking market orientation, innovation and performance: an empirical study on small industrial enterprises in Spain

2016

Many studies uphold market orientation as a key factor in creating and sustaining a firm’s competitive advantage. The present research model explores this topic further by including within the model the links between organizations’ innovation outcomes and business performance. In particular, the model empirically tests the mediating role of innovation outcomes in the relationship between market orientation and business performance. The present study uses a sample of 145 firms belonging to the Spanish automotive components manufacturing sector, which is essentially composed of small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs). In order to test and validate our research model and hypotheses, this stu…

Proton glass behavior and hopping conductivity in solid solutions of antiferroelectric betaine phosphate and ferroelectric betaine phosphite.

1991

Measurements of the dielectric permittivity are reported for solid solutions of antiferroelectric betaine phosphate and ferroelectric betaine phosphite at frequencies 10 −2 Hz T c the dielectric response is dominated by ac and dc conduction. The 40% sample exhibits pure relational behavior indicative of a transition into an orientational glass state

MOTIVATIONS AND BEHAVIORS THAT SUPPORT RECYCLING

1998

Abstract This paper proposes that recycling researchers should pay attention to both attitudes towards recycling and the processes involved in recycling (recyclers' phenomenal experiences and organizing strategies). As predicted by Sansone and colleagues' model of how people induce themselves to engage in necessary but boring tasks, people who had reasons to persist at recycling (that is, who held strong prorecycling attitudes or had a social orientation towards recycling) were more likely to redefine recycling so as to emphasize its pleasures or the sense of satisfaction they gained from contributing to the environment. These people were also more likely to have developed a way of organizi…

Brief report: Assessing dispositional optimism in adolescence – Factor structure and concurrent validity of the Life Orientation Test – Revised

2014

Dispositional optimism is an individual difference promoting psychosocial adjustment and well-being during adolescence. Dispositional optimism was originally defined as a one-dimensional construct; however, empirical evidence suggests two correlated factors in the Life Orientation Test - Revised (LOT-R).The main aim of the study was to evaluate the dimensionality of the LOT-R. This study is the first attempt to identify the best factor structure, comparing congeneric, two correlated-factor, and two orthogonal-factor models in a sample of adolescents. Concurrent validity was also assessed. The results demonstrated the superior fit of the two orthogonal-factor model thus reconciling the one-di…

Why should We Bother? Ethical and Social Issues in Individualized Medicine

2006

Individualized medicine, methodologically rooted in pharmacogenetics and pharmacogenomics, is now venturing into clinical application. Prescribing the right drug in the right dose to the right patient according to specific health needs and individual characteristics is a core mission of individualized medicine. The intrinsic values of this mission are so self-evident that--at first glance--the ethical and social issues raised by individualized medicine seem to be negligible. However, the translation of pharmacogenetics and pharmacogenomics into clinical routine not only requires the collection and evaluation of large amounts of individual genetic data, but also heralds the need for further …

Deuteron NMR investigations of glass and phase transitions in(KI)1−x(ND4I)xmixed crystals

1998

Powdered potassium ammonium iodide mixed crystals with ammonium concentrations of 20% and 70% have been studied using deuteron NMR techniques. For the less doped sample the deuteron line starts to broaden and the spin-lattice relaxation time ${T}_{1}$ becomes nonexponential below about 20 K. These observations indicate the breakdown of ergodicity and the onset of orientational glass freezing. At the lowest temperatures ${T}_{1}$ reaches a plateau value. For the 70% sample a relatively abrupt onset of two-phase behavior at $Tl35\mathrm{K}$ is inferred from measurements of the spin-spin and spin-lattice relaxation times. These observations are taken to indicate an order-disorder transition to…

The Disorienting Aesthetics of Mashed-Up Anthropocene Environments

2022

This paper describes the disorienting aesthetics of some environments that are characteristic of the Anthropocene. We refer to these environments as 'mashed-up' and present three dimensions - phenomenological, epistemological and narrative - of the aesthetic disorientation they can trigger. We then advance the suggestion that a rich, nuanced and meaningful aesthetic experience of mashed-up Anthropocene environments (MAEs) calls for a mode of appreciation grounded on performative practices of aesthetic familiarisation with particular MAEs and entities and processes thereof. Familiarisation with MAEs, we further note, can have disorienting codas of its own. It can reveal and highlight, rather…

Nonadiabatic orientation, toroidal current, and induced magnetic field in BeO molecules.

2008

It is predicted that oriented BeO molecules would give rise to unprecedentedly strong, unidirectional electric ring current and an associated magnetic field upon excitation by a right or left circularly polarized laser pulse into the first excited degenerate singlet state. The strong toroidal electric ring current of this state is dominated by the ring current of the 1π± orbital about the molecular axis. Our predictions are based on the analysis of the orbital composition of the states involved and are substantiated by high level electronic structure calculations and wavepacket simulations of the laser-driven orientation and excitation dynamics. Bis(arylimidazole) Iridium Picolinate Emitters and Preferential Dipole Orientation in Films

2018

The straightforward synthesis and photophysical properties of a new series of heteroleptic iridium(III) bis(2-arylimidazole) picolinate complexes are reported. Each complex has been characterized by nuclear magnetic resonance, UV-vis, cyclic voltammetry, and photoluminescent angle dependency, and the emissive properties of each are described. The preferred orientation of transition dipoles in emitter/host thin films indicated more preferred orientation than homoleptic complex Ir(ppy)3.
