Scaffolding for motivation by parents, and child homework motivations and emotions: Effects of a training programme
2018
Background and aims Based on the principles of scaffolding for motivation and on the assumptions of self-determination theory, two studies aimed to assess the role played by perceived parental autonomy-supportive scaffolding on child homework autonomous motivation, self-efficacy, affect, and engagement. Samples and results The results of Study 1, which involved 122 parents and their children, showed that the higher the parental autonomous motivation, the more their children perceived them as autonomy-supportive while scaffolding for motivation, and hence developed autonomous motivation, self-efficacy, and engagement in homework. In Study 2, 37 parents were involved in a four-session trainin…
Tiešsaistes viktorīnas patstāvīgās mācīšanās veicināšanai 5. klasē angļu valodas stundās
2017
Diplomdarba mērķis bija izpētīt kā tiešsaistes viktorīnas spēj veicināt patstāvīgu mācīšanos angļu valodas stundās 5. klasē. Patstāvīgas mācīšanās prasmes ir būtiskas svešvalodas apguvē. Darba autore uzskata, ka skolotājiem jāpielāgo mācību process atbilstoši digitālās paaudzes vajadzībām. Lai sasniegtu pētījumā izvirzīto mērķi, darba autore veica gadījuma pētījumu Rīgas Juglas vidusskolā. Pētījuma ietvaros tika veikta klātienes intervija ar angļu valodas skolotāju, analizē t i skolēnu mācīšanās žurnāli un veikta tiešsaistes anketa skolēniem. Pētījumā iegūtie dati norāda, ka skolotāji ir gatavi pielāgot savu mācīšanu atbilstoši digitālās paaudzes mācīšanās vajadzībām. Darbā tiek secināts, k…
The perception loop in CiceRobot, a museum guide robot
2009
The paper discusses a model of robot perception based on a comparison loop process between the actual and the expected robot input sensory data generated by a 3D robot/environment simulator. The perception loop process is operating in CiceRobot, a functional robot architecture implemented on an autonomous robot RWI B21 offering guided tours at the Archaeological Museum of Agrigento, Italy.
Chemically Fueled Volume Phase Transition of Polyacid Microgels
2021
Abstract Microgels are soft colloids that show responsive behavior and are easy to functionalize for applications. They are considered key components for future smart colloidal material systems. However, so far microgel systems have almost exclusively been studied in classical responsive switching settings using external triggers, while internally organized, autonomous control mechanisms as found in supramolecular chemistry and DNA nanotechnology relying on fuel‐driven out‐of‐equilibrium concepts have not been implemented into microgel systems. Here, we introduce chemically fueled transient volume phase transitions (VPTs) for poly(methacrylic acid) (PMAA) microgels, where the collapsed hydr…
Existence results for a nonlinear nonautonomous transmission problem via domain perturbation
2021
In this paper we study the existence and the analytic dependence upon domain perturbation of the solutions of a nonlinear nonautonomous transmission problem for the Laplace equation. The problem is defined in a pair of sets consisting of a perforated domain and an inclusion whose shape is determined by a suitable diffeomorphism $\phi$. First we analyse the case in which the inclusion is a fixed domain. Then we will perturb the inclusion and study the arising boundary value problem and the dependence of a specific family of solutions upon the perturbation parameter $\phi$.
A mixed reality simulator for an autonomous delivery system using platooning
2021
Developments in the field of autonomous vehicles have encouraged research to innovate technology to solve everyday problems. E-commerce has been on the rise and, freighttransportation is considered an environmental nuisance, especially in the city centers. Electric vehicles have been proposed to reduce the environmental impact of transit vehicles. A package delivery system using a platoon of autonomous electric delivery vehicles and established public transport networks in cities can be employed to solve these problems. But autonomous vehicle testing is a point of concern for authorities and the public alike. This paper acknowledges this problem of validating the algorithms used to create a…
An Energy Autonomous and Battery-Free Measurement System for Ambient Light Power with Time Domain Readout Measurement
2021
Internet of Things (IoT) provides more and more adequate infrastructures for many applications and advanced services. This context promotes the ability to satisfy the growing demand for innovative measuring systems, in- creasingly popular with intelligent nodes, totally wireless, easy to install that require the least possible maintenance. This paper aims to contribute to the state-of-the-art with an energy-autonomous and battery-free measurement platform designed to measure the ambient light power when its level exceeds the Limit of Detection (LoD) threshold. The proposed system consists of a single photovoltaic transducer to harvest energy and simultaneously detect ambient light. The resu…
Retrospective screening for SARS-CoV-2 among influenza-like illness hospitalizations: 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 seasons, Valencia region, Spain
2021
On 9 March 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) Global Influenza Programme (GIP) asked participant sites on the Global Influenza Hospital Surveillance Network (GIHSN) to contribute to data collection concerning severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). We re-analysed 5833 viral RNA archived samples collected prospectively from hospital admissions for influenza-lik…
Erle-copter Simulation using ROS and Gazebo
2020
The recent decrease in the price as well as size of semi-conductor logic and due to significant advancements in technologies such as microcontrollers, motors and sensors, the application of quadcopters in several fields has been achieved. However, testing of quadcopter prototypes still has a risk of damage due to faults and unexpected behavior. Hence, a method of testing of quadcopters in simulation mimicking the actual conditions of the real environment in an actual hardware test has been proposed. For this purpose, Gazebo simulator integrated with ROS has been chosen for the simulation of the path of the quadcopter. Moreover, the software Matlab/Simulink has been interfaced with Gazebo in…
