Advantages of Public Cloud Infrastructure in Different Technology Adoption Lifecycle Stages

Independent software vendors (ISV) utilize cloud infrastructure for different reasons. We hypothesize that the motivation to adopt cloud infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) changes as the ISV’s product is getting adopted by the market. In this paper we consider how the infrastructure needs of ISVs change along the stages of ISV product’s adoption lifecycle, and analyze the potential benefits of utilizing IaaS in different stages. The analysis is illustrated with the cases of ISV firms with documented use of IaaS. These cases support the hypothesis that different benefits of IaaS are gaining importance along the adoption lifecycle. peerReviewed

Abstract In Italy, the number of adopted school-age children is increasing. According to the Commission of Intercountry Adoption (2013), 3106 children were adopted, 47.5% of them are between 5 and 9 years old. The present action-research aims at exploring the spread of good approaches in schools in terms of welcoming of adopted children. For this purpose, 268 teachers of primary schools were involved in analyzing the social representation about adopted children and their family. The results show a simplified vision of the adoptive family, which is described as heroic family or, on the contrary, as a family with difficulty.
Adopting sustainable irrigation technologies in Italy: a study on the determinants of inter- and intra-farm diffusion

This paper analyses the drivers for adopting irrigation systems with water conservation and saving technologies (WCSTs) by Italian farmers. The agricultural sector in Italy, like in other Mediterranean countries, suffers from water scarcity and water endowment variability. Water resources play a decisive role in agricultural production and in implementing large-scale WCSTs capable of improving the resilience of the whole agricultural sector. Cet article vise à alimenter les réflexions ayant actuellement cours sur le bien fondé de ces formules de rémunérations, en portant un intérêt particulier aux pratiques observées, à leurs finalités et à leurs conséquences économiques, politiques, sociales, culturelles... finalement à leur dimension éthique. Se référant au courant téléologique de la pensée éthique, sont étudiées dans une première section les conséquences pour les actionnaires, qui en prennent la décision, de l'adoption de ces formules de rémunération. L'analyse est poursuivie du point de vue d'autres parties prenantes (dirigeants, salariés, prêteurs...).
The unequal effect of the globalisation between the spanish textile companies

The aim of this work is to analyse the different impact of competitive environment changes across different indicators in the competitive environment on the Spanish companies of the textile and apparel industry. The results obtained from the contrast upon a sample composed by 5.531 SME’s of this sector show a important role of the territory and of the strategy of internationalization. For this reason, given the trend of this industry to the concentration and geographical specialization it is expected that the effect of these changes is irregular and asymmetrical between the main producing Spanish regions.

Suomen kouluissa opiskellaan yhä vähemmän ja yhä harvempia vieraita kieliä. Valinnaisten kielten opiskelun suosio on laskenut, ja kielitaito on vaarassa jäädä pelkän englannin varaan. Erilaisia toimenpiteitä, kuten kielen opetuksen varhentaminen, on jo tehty. Ne eivät kuitenkaan ole juurikaan lisänneet muiden vieraiden kielten opiskelun suosiota, vaan valtaosa oppilaista ja opiskelijoista opiskelee edelleen vain englantia kotimaisten kielten lisäksi. Consumer adoption of mobile technologies: a literature review

Although the total number of mobile subscriptions reached 6.8 billion worldwide (ITU, 2013) confirming in the process that mobile technology is widespread, academic literature has so far focused only on explaining adoption of mobile technology and services. This literature review analyses 67 studies from the period 2005-2013 and finds the following: a) most studies are quantitative in nature and come from Asia; b) the Technology Acceptance Model is the most used theory; c) future research should also utilise qualitative methods and examine the behavioural outcomes of mobile adoption instead of simply adoption in consumer markets. peerReviewed
