Surgery vs. chemotherapy for ovarian cancer recurrence: what is the best treatment option

2020

Nowadays, the best treatment option for ovarian cancer recurrence is often subjective, can vary in the different centers and depend on personal experience. Arbeitsgemeinschaft Gynaekologische Onkologie (AGO)-DESKTOP studies have identified a population of patients who could benefit from secondary surgery. The results of the Gynecologic Oncology Group (GOG)-0213 study were recently published, which showed no advantage in terms of overall survival (OS) in patients with platinum-sensitive recurrent epithelial ovarian undergoing secondary cytoreductive surgery (SCS) compared to chemotherapy alone. Aim of this narrative review is to summarize the best aspects that can make ovarian cancer recurre…

Klassifikation und Therapie von Endolecks nach endovaskulärer Behandlung von abdominellen Aortenaneurysmen

2005

This article describes the classification of endoleaks after endovascular treatment of abdominal aortic aneurysms, thereby summarizing the most important problems of this endovascular technique. The correct classification of endoleaks is a prerequisite for interdisciplinary discussion. It is indispensable for professional reporting of the pathological findings and for the decision making as to the adequate treatment of endoleaks. Irrespective of the types of stent graft and property of the material, five endoleak types are defined in the literature: leakage at the anchor sites (type I); leakage due to collateral arteries (type II); defective stent grafts (type III); leakage due to porosity …

RANDOMIZED PHASE II STUDY OF FIRST-LINE EVEROLIMUS (EVE) + BEVACIZUMAB (BEV) VERSUS INTERFERON ALFA-2A (IFN) + BEV IN PATIENTS (PTS) WITH METASTATIC …

2012

ABSTRACT Background Study results demonstrated that IFN augments BEV activity and improves median PFS in pts with mRCC. Thus, combination BEV + IFN is a standard first-line treatment option for mRCC. Combining BEV with the mTOR inhibitor EVE may be an efficacious and well-tolerated treatment option. The open-label, phase II RECORD-2 trial compared first-line EVE + BEV and IFN + BEV in mRCC. Patients and methods: Therapy-naive pts with clear cell mRCC and prior nephrectomy were randomized 1:1 to BEV 10 mg/kg IV every 2 weeks with either EVE 10 mg oral daily or IFN (9 MIU SC 3 times/week, if tolerated). Tumour assessments were every 12 weeks. Primary objective was treatment effect on progress…

Increased risk of angiosarcoma secondary to cancer radiotherapy: Case series and review of the treatment options.

2020

Angiosarcomas (ASs) are aggressive tumors of vascular endothelial origin, occurring sporadically or in association with prior radiotherapy or chronic lymphedema. With only 1-5% of all sarcomas, the incidence seems low, but for the affected patient due to the extremely poor prognosis and the limited treatment options, the fate is often inevitable. Radiotherapy, chemotherapy, or "target therapy" have been used in the management of AS, but represent individual case decisions without lasting evidence. Over the past few years, breast-conserving surgery followed by radiation therapy, known as breast-conserving therapy (BCT), is being employed as a standard treatment for early-stage breast cancer,…

A method of reconstruction after pancreaticoduodenectomy for pancreatic malignancies in very young children: Two cases reports

2016

Abstract Pancreatic tumors are very rare diseases in very young children. Most information about those diseases in children was published in cases reports. Due to the rare nature of pancreatic tumors in children, there remains the absence of diagnostic algorithms, clear radiographic and morphological assessments as well as evidence based best treatment options. Because of the young age of patients and the rare occurrence of pancreatic neoplasms, tumor detection remains poor. For malignancies affecting the head of the pancreas the only possibility for achieving clear surgical margins is performing a pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD). We describe two cases of diagnostic and treatment of pancreatic…

Predictability of short implants ( < 10 mm) as a treatment option for the rehabilitation of atrophic maxillae: a systematic review

2016

Background Short implants (< 10 mm) are one of the treatment options available in cases of limited vertical bone. A purpose of this paper is to evaluate the predictability of short implants as an alternative to technically molthough such implants are now widely used, there is controversy regarding their clinical reliability. There complex treatments in patients with atrophic maxillae, based on a systematic review of the literature and the analysis of the implant survival rates, changes in peri-implant bone level, and associated complications. It is postulated that short implants offer clinical results similar to those of longer implants. Material and Methods A Medline-PubMed search was made…

Mobile Technology Adoption and the Effects of Cultural Factors

2019

Mobile technologies are an important part of human life in both the personal and professional realms. Many services (banking, news, health, education, etc.) that traditionally offered either face-to-face, telephone, or other conventional platforms and technologies are now establishing services on mobile platforms as well. Real options analysis as a tool for start-up company investment valuation

2015

Pro Gradu -tutkielman tavoitteena oli tutkia Real Option Analysis -metodin sopivuutta start-up yhtiön investoinnin arvonmääritykseen. Tutkimuksen pohjaksi tutustuttiin start-up yhtiöihin, arvonm…
