Fast and universal estimation of latent variable models using extended variational approximations

2022

AbstractGeneralized linear latent variable models (GLLVMs) are a class of methods for analyzing multi-response data which has gained considerable popularity in recent years, e.g., in the analysis of multivariate abundance data in ecology. One of the main features of GLLVMs is their capacity to handle a variety of responses types, such as (overdispersed) counts, binomial and (semi-)continuous responses, and proportions data. On the other hand, the inclusion of unobserved latent variables poses a major computational challenge, as the resulting marginal likelihood function involves an intractable integral for non-normally distributed responses. This has spurred research into a number of approx…

Ordering and demixing transitions in multicomponent Widom-Rowlinson models.

1995

We use Monte Carlo techniques and analytical methods to study the phase diagram of multicomponent Widom-Rowlinson models on a square lattice: there are M species all with the same fugacity z and a nearest neighbor hard core exclusion between unlike particles. Simulations show that for M between two and six there is a direct transition from the gas phase at z < z_d (M) to a demixed phase consisting mostly of one species at z > z_d (M) while for M \geq 7 there is an intermediate ``crystal phase'' for z lying between z_c(M) and z_d(M). In this phase, which is driven by entropy, particles, independent of species, preferentially occupy one of the sublattices, i.e. spatial symmetry but not …

CO-releasing binuclear rhodium complexes as inhibitors of nitric oxide generation in stimulated macrophages.

2013

Nontoxic CO-releasing dirhodium complexes act as inhibitors of NO in stimulated macrophage cells, suggesting that novel antiinflammatory treatments could involve the use of these types of binuclear complexes.

Synthesis and spectroscopic studies (Mo¨ssbauer, IR and NMR) of [R2SnCl2bipym] (R = butyl or phenyl) and the crystal and molecular structure of [Ph2S…

1994

Abstract The complexes [R 2 SnCl 2 bipym] (R = phenyl or butyl, bipym = 2,2′,6,6′-bipyrimidine) were synthesized and studied in solution by 1 H- and 13 C-NMR spectroscopy and in the solid state by IR and Mo¨ssbauer spectroscopy. The latter was also performed in frozen ethanolic solution. The structure of the phenyl complex was determined by single crystal diffraction methods. The value obtained for the angle C-SN-C in the phenyl compound is 169.3(2)° (X-ray) and 151° (Mo¨ssbauer), but the assignment of an octahedral configuration by Mo¨ssbauer spectroscopy is consistent with the structure determined by diffraction. The butyl complex is also octahedral and the two techniques show better agre…

2008

Three doubly-bridged, trinuclear copper(II) compounds with hydroxo and carboxylato bridges, ∞ 1 [Cu 3 (L1) 2 (μ-OH) 2 (μ-propionato) 2 ] ∞ 1 [ Cu 3 ( L 1 ) 2 ( μ - OH ) 2 ( μ - propionato ) 2 ] (1) , [Cu 3 (L2) 2 (μ-OH) 2 (μ-propionato) 2 (DMF) 2 ] (2) and ∞ 1 {[Cu 3 (L3) 2 (μ-OH) 2 (μ-propionato) 2 ]} ∞ 1 { [ Cu 3 ( L 3 ) 2 ( μ - OH ) 2 ( μ - propionato ) 2 ] } [Cu 3 (L3) 2 (μ-OH) 2 (μ-propionato) 2 (DMF) 2 ]} (3) [HL1 =  N -(pyrid-2-ylmethyl)benzenesulfonylamide, HL2 =  N -(pyrid-2-ylmethyl)toluenesulfonylamide, HL3 =  N -(pyrid-2-ylmethyl)naphthalenesulfonylamide], have been synthesized and characterized. 1 is built from [Cu 3 (L1) 2 (μ-OH) 2 (μ-propionato) 2 ] clusters. Synthesis, structural and magnetic characterizations of new complexes of di-2,6-(2-pyridylcarbonyl)pyridine (pyCOpyCOpy) ligand

2013

International audience; Using the di-2,6-(2-pyridylcarbonyl)pyridine ligand (L1) as starting framework, five new mononuclear complexes were obtained: [Cu(L1)(MeCN)(ClO4)2] (1) [Co(L1)(MeCN)(Br)2]*MeCN (2), [Fe(L1)2](BF4)2*MeOH*H2O (3), [Cr(L2a)Cl2]*2MeOH (where HL2a is (6-(hydroxyl(methoxy)(pyridin-2-yl)methyl)pyridin-2-yl)(pyridin-2-yl)methanone) (4) and one trinuclear [NiII3] complex, [Ni3(L2b)2(Bz)2(EtOH)2](ClO4)2*2EtOH (where HL2b is (6-(hydroxyl(ethoxy)(pyridin-2-yl)methyl)pyridin-2-yl)(pyridin-2-yl)methanone; Bz = benzoato) (5). Their structural and magnetic characterizations are herein reported. All the metal ions show octahedral coordination geometry, which is slightly unusual for t…

Complexes of organometallic compounds

1974

Abstract Several new complexes formed by PhTlCl 2 with tridentate ligands (with ONO and SNO donor atoms) and a tetradentate ligand (with ONNO donor atoms), have been prepared. The complexes show 1/1 organothallium(lll)/Ligand ( = L 2− ) stoichiometry. Their nature and configuration are investigated in the solid state by vibrational spectroscopy, and in solution by electronic spectroscopy. The existence of chelation by the dianionic ligands on Tl III is inferred, and suggestions are made concerning the Tl III coordination number and the stereochemistry of the complexes.

Synthesis of new half sandwich tetrachloro derivatives of molybdenum(V) and tungsten(V). X-ray structures of (C5HPri4)W(CO)3(CH3) and (C5Et5)WCl4

2002

International audience; The new synthetic intermediates (Ring)MCl4 [Ring=C5HPri4 or 4Cp, M=Mo, 2; Ring=C5Et5 or VCp, M=W, 4, Ring=4Cp, M=W, 6] containing sterically protecting cyclopentadienyl ligands have been synthesized. Along the synthetic pathway to 2, it was found that the treatment of [4CpMo(CO)3]− with an aqueous ferric solution according to the well established Manning procedure affords the hydride compound 4CpMo(CO)3H (1) by hydrolysis rather than the expected neutral dimer by oxidation. Compound 1 could be converted, however, to 2 upon oxidation with PhICl2 in good yields. Compound 4 is shown by a single crystal X-ray analysis to adopt a monomeric four-legged piano stool structur…

NaI/CuI–II heterometallic cages interconnected by unusual linear 2-coordinate OCN-Cu(I)-NCO links: synthesis, structural, magnetostructural correlati…

2009

A new Na(I)/Cu(I-II) heterometallic coordination complex [Cu(2)L(2)Na(NCO)(2)Cu](n) (1) with an unusual architecture has been synthesised. In 1 cyclic Na-O-Cu-O-Cu cages constructed by the tetradentate N(2)O(2) donor Schiff base ligand (H(2)L = N, N'-bis(2-hydroxyacetophenone) propylenediimine) are interconnected to each other by a rare singly end-to-end bridged OCN-Cu(I)-NCO link generating 1D chain. The complex has been characterised by elemental, spectral and structural analysis. The cyclic voltammogram of 1 has been compared with the analogous complexes. Cryomagnetic susceptibility studies indicate the copper(II) centers in the cyclic Na-O-Cu-O-Cu cages are antiferromagnetically coupled…
