In the debates on deliberative democracy it’s a common idea that the defenders of this theory argue for the direct participation of the citizens in the political issues and for the transformation of our current representative devices. However, in this work I argue that this conception is misguided, and that it’s the minority who defends the direct participation. The majority of the writers acknowledges the necessity of a representative device, although based on different premises to the liberal system. Conceptions of healthcare professionals about rehabilitees’ participation in goal setting in an acute hospital : a phenomenographic study

Purpose: In acute care, effective goal-setting is an essential phase of a successful rehabilitation process. However, professionals’ knowledge and skills in rehabilitee-centered practice may not always match the ways of implementing goal-setting. This study aimed to describe the variation in how acute hospital professionals perceive and comprehend rehabilitee participation in rehabilitation goal-setting. Pētījuma mērķis bija noskaidrot, kādas saistības pastāv starp psiholoģiskajām pamatvajadzībām (autonomiju, kompetenci attiecībām), politisko un pilsonisko piedalīšanos un uzticēšanos. Tā ietvaros tika aptaujāti Latvijas iedzīvotaji (n=88), kuri sniedza atbildes uz psiholoģisko pamatvajadzību aptauju, pilsoniskās iesaistes aptauju, Eiropas sociālās aptaujas pilsoniskās piedalīšanās skalu un tās jautājumiem par politisko un starppersonu uzticēšanos. In my case study, I used two composing tasks to examine how the inclusive composing method (OSM) I have developed promotes the achievement of the aims of the new core curriculum for basic education 2014 and realises the core metaphors of learning. I have created a learning triangle tool to determine how the musical contents, the principles for developing working culture and the goals of music teaching, transversal competences and national education are linked with the latter. Virtual communities (VCs) have become essential in current organizations and society, and so their sustainability is a topic of interest for researchers and practitioners. We focus on the sense of virtual community (SoVC) and commitment as relevant antecedents in achieving the success and maintenance of different types of VCs (communities of interest, virtual learning communities, and virtual communities of practice).
