Synthesis, Characterization, and Saccharide Binding Studies of Bile Acid − Porphyrin Conjugates

2007

Synthesis and characterization of bile acid-porphyrin conjugates (BAPs) are reported. Binding of saccharides with BAPs in aqueous methanol was studied by monitoring changes in the visible absorption spectral of the porphyrin-moieties. Although these studies clearly showed absorbance changes, suggesting quite high if non-selective binding, the mass spectral studies do not unambiguously support these results.

Structure and mixed spin state of the chloroiron(III) complex of 2,3,7,8,12,13,17,18-octaphenyl-5,10,15,20-tetraphenylporphyrin, Fe(dpp)Cl

2002

Abstract The chloroiron(III) complex Fe(dpp)Cl (1) of the peripherally crowded 2,3,7,8,12,13,17,18-octaphenyl-5,10,15,20-tetraphenylporphyrin or dodecaphenylporphyrin (dpp), has been synthesized and characterized by X-ray crystallography, normal-coordinate structural decomposition analysis (NSD), EPR and Mossbauer spectroscopy and magnetic susceptibility measurements. The dpp ligand present in the crystal structure of this molecule is predominantly saddle-shaped. It is also ruffled and slightly domed according to an analysis of the out-of-plane distortions performed by using NSD. This saddle deformation is significantly smaller than those observed in the chloroiron(III) complexes of the β-p…

Kinetic and Thermodynamic Studies of Iron(III) and Iron(IV) σ-Bonded Porphyrins. Formation and Reactivity of [(OEP)Fe(R)]n+, Where OEP Is the Dianion…

1998

A series of high- and low-spin iron(III) phenyl and fluorophenyl octaethylporphyrin complexes are characterized by their electrochemical and spectroscopic properties in nonaqueous media. The investigated compounds are represented as (OEP)Fe(R), where R = C6H5, 3,4,5-C6F3H2, 2,4,6-C6F3H2, C6F4H, or C6F5 and OEP is the dianion of 2,3,7,8,12,13,17,18-octaethylporphyrin. The two C6F3H2 complexes are of special interest in that these isomers differ in the spin state of the iron(III). Electrochemical studies indicate that three one-electron oxidations are seen for all of the (OEP)Fe(R) derivatives which were investigated both at room and low temperature under conditions where migration of the σ-b…

Photoactivated chlorophyllin-based gelatin films and coatings to prevent microbial contamination of food products

2008

[EN] The aim of this work was to develop antimicrobial photosensitizer-containing edible films and coatings based on gelatin as the polymer matrix. incorporating sodium magnesium chlorophyllin (E-140) and sodium copper chlorophyllin (E-141). Chlorophyllins were incorporated into the gelatin film-forming solution and the inhibiting effect of the cast films was tested against Staphylococcus aureus and Listeria monocytogenes. The results demonstrated that water soluble sodium magnesium chlorophyllin and water soluble sodium copper chlorophyllin reduced the growth of S. aureus and L monocytogenes by 5 log and 4 log respectively. Subsequently, the activity of self-standing films and coatings con…

3,4-Dihydroxy- and 3,4-methylenedioxy- phenanthrene-type alkaloids with high selectivity for D2 dopamine receptor.

2013

Abstract Dopamine-mediated neurotransmission plays an important role in relevant psychiatric and neurological disorders. Nowadays, there is an enormous interest in the development of new drugs acting at the dopamine receptors (DR) as potential new targets for the treatment of schizophrenia or Parkinson’s disease. Previous studies have revealed that isoquinoline compounds such as tetrahydroisoquinolines (THIQs) can behave as selective D 2 dopaminergic alkaloids. In the present study we have synthesized five aporphine compounds and five phenanthrene alkaloids and evaluated their potential dopaminergic activity. Binding studies on rat striatal membranes were used to evaluate their affinity and…

Synthesis and crystal structure of an unprecedented bismuth porphyrin containing ester pendant arms

2000

International audience; An easily prepared porphyrin with pendant arms is shown to form a stable complex with bismuth(III) ion; the complex is eight coordinate with a square antiprismatic coordination geometry; the solid-state structure exhibits the formation of a dimer assembled via mutual coordination of a terminal ester group.

Design of Porphyrin-dota-Like Scaffolds as All-in-One Multimodal Heterometallic Complexes for Medical Imaging

2013

A series of four multimodal ligands incorporating one porphyrin moiety and one or more dota-like macrocycles all-in-one in the same molecular architecture have been synthesized and full characterized. The corresponding gadolinium(III) complexes were also synthesized and heterometallic complexes incorporating both gadolinium(III) and copper(II) ions were prepared as potential MRI/PET multimodal contrast agents. One ligand (L4) includes an amine moiety that can be activated for easy conversion into an isothiocyanate group for further anchoring to a biological vector. Preliminary relaxivity, cytotoxicity, and MRI studies showed that the complexes developed in this work are very promising medic…

1H-NMR spectroscopic studies of paramagnetic superstructured iron(III) porphyrinsThis article is dedicated to the memory of Professor Michel Momentea…

2002

The electronic properties of several superstructured iron(III) porphyrins, in which the two faces of the porphyrin are protected by two chains linked at the opposite phenyl rings, have been investigated. The paramagnetic 1H NMR spectra of three iron(III) “basket-handle” porphyrins such as FeIII[e-BHP(C12)2], FeIII[a-BHP(C12)2] and FeIII[e-BHP(C12)(ImC11)] in organic solvent have been assigned. The 1H T1 values of the signals were measured and resonance assignments made based on NOESY and COSY experiments. The electronic structure of the iron(III) is discussed on the basis of the temperature dependence of the isotropic shifts and relaxation times. The hyperfine-shifted resonances in these sp…

Synthesis and Physicochemical Characterization of Bis(macrocycles) Involving a Porphyrin and a meso ‐Substituted Corrole – X‐ray Crystal Structure of…

2005

A very efficient, simple synthesis of face-to-face porphyrin–corrole free-bases bearing substituents at the meso positions of the corrole ring is reported. Starting from the (porphyrin–aldehyde)zinc species 1Zn, porphyrin–corrole free-bases (3M, 3C) are obtained in two steps, in fairly good yields (40–43 %), compared to 11 steps for their corrole β-pyrrole-substituted counterparts. Moreover, the possibility to directly synthesize the free-base (porphyrin–corrole)cobalt complex (5M or 5C) allows for the further preparation of heterodimetallic derivatives. Crystals of the bis(pyridine) adduct of 5M have been grown; the molecular structure clearly shows that the two pyridine molecules are coor…

Synthesis of tritiated derivatives of the diphenylether herbicides acifluorfen and acifluorfen methyl

1992

Acifluorfen 1 and acifluorfen methyl 2, two herbicides of the diphenylether family, are inhibitors of protoporphyrinogen oxidases. Two tritiated derivatives of these compounds, namely 3-[3H]-5-[2-chloro-4-(trifluoromethyl)phenoxy]-2-nitrobenzoic acid [3H]-1, and methyl 3-[3H]-5-[2-chloro-4-(trifluoromethyl)phenoxy]-2-nitrobenzoic acid [3H]-2, have been synthesised from 3-[3H]-5-hydroxybenzoic acid, in order to probe their interactions with the target enzymes.
