Best proximity point theorems for rational proximal contractions
2013
Abstract We provide sufficient conditions which warrant the existence and uniqueness of the best proximity point for two new types of contractions in the setting of metric spaces. The presented results extend, generalize and improve some known results from best proximity point theory and fixed-point theory. We also give some examples to illustrate and validate our definitions and results. MSC:41A65, 46B20, 47H10.
The trade-enhancing effect of immigration networks: New evidence on the role of geographic proximity
2012
Abstract We use migration-trade data from Italian, Portuguese and Spanish provinces to examine the importance of geographic proximity in the effectiveness of ethnic networks on bilateral trade. Empirical findings from the gravity model show that the migration-trade link is clearly in-province: exports from a province to a country do not receive any stimuli from immigrants from this country living outside of the province, once we control for country–province time-invariant fixed effects.
Winding loss analysis and optimization of an AC inductor for a galvanically isolated PV inverter
2012
This paper describes simple treatments for fringing fields of air gaps in the core and bypass fluxes in the winding window area of an existing high frequency AC inductor used by a commercial developer of PV inverters. For this purpose, Maxwell (ANSOFT) electromagnetic software package is used for winding eddy current loss analysis. It is displayed that air gaps cause high flux strength and, therefore, induce significantly high eddy currents to the surrounded windings. Proximity effect also causes non uniform current density in the winding. Altogether, the inductor is affected by fringing fields, and proximity effect produces a very high AC resistance, consequently resulting in undesirable h…
Nonadiabatic dynamics in strongly driven diffusive Josephson junctions
2019
By measuring the Josephson emission of a diffusive Superconductor-Normal metal-Superconductor (SNS) junction at a finite temperature we reveal a non-trivial sensitivity of the supercurrent to microwave irradiation. We demonstrate that the harmonic content of the current-phase relation is modified due to the energy redistribution of quasiparticles in the normal wire induced by the electromagnetic field. The distortion originates from the phase-dependent out-of-equilibrium distribution function which is strongly affected by the ac-response of the spectral supercurrent. For phases close to $\pi$, transitions accross the Andreev gap are dynamically favored leading to a supercurrent reduction. T…
Bootstrap validation of links of a minimum spanning tree
2018
We describe two different bootstrap methods applied to the detection of a minimum spanning tree obtained from a set of multivariate variables. We show that two different bootstrap procedures provide partly distinct information that can be highly informative about the investigated complex system. Our case study, based on the investigation of daily returns of a portfolio of stocks traded in the US equity markets, shows the degree of robustness and completeness of the information extracted with popular information filtering methods such as the minimum spanning tree and the planar maximally filtered graph. The first method performs a "row bootstrap" whereas the second method performs a "pair bo…

Avantages comparatifs et dynamiques de spécialisation : le cas des pays africains.
2021
In this thesis we analyze the mechanisms linking trade openness and industrialization patterns. We are particularly interested in developing countries, especially those belonging to the African continent, because of their particular form of production specialization— essentially based on agricultural and mining products. Our goal is to better understand the evolution of these forms of specialization in order to identify possible paths of industrial development. Chapter 1 provides a comprehensive overview of the literature on the theoretical determinants of international specialization and pays particular attention to theories emphasizing a dynamic view of comparative advantage. This chapter…
Impact de la proximité identitaire « publics-musée d'art » sur la fréquentation des lieux culturels : le cas des musées d’art
2017
The value that individuals attach to a cultural object can be explained, among other things, by their identity project of belonging to a group. This thesis proposes new strategic orientations for museums that increase museum attendance, change the relationship of the art museum with the public and attract other individuals. This research allowed the conceptualization of the proximity of the "public-art museum" identity, the confirmation of its dimensions and antecedents, and finally the analysis of the relationship between the "public-art museum" identity proximity and the art museum attendance. Moreover, the development of a "public-art museum" identity proximity scale, offers to broaden th…
Proximité identitaire « publics musée d’art » et fréquentation du lieu culturel
2018
The value that individuals attach to a cultural object can be explained, among other things, by their individual identity project or belonging to a group. We will try to consider new strategic orientations for art museum professionals that can achieve several objectives regarding the museum visitors (or non-visitors): increase their attendance, change the relationship of the art museum with the public and attract other individuals. This work allows the conceptualization of the "public-art museum" identity proximity, the confirmation of its dimensions, and finally, the analysis of the relationship between the "public-art museum" identity proximity and the attendance the behaviour of the cultu…
Charge transport through spin-polarized tunnel junction between two spin-split superconductors
2019
We investigate transport properties of junctions between two spin-split superconductors linked by a spin-polarized tunneling barrier. The spin-splitting fields in the superconductors (S) are induced by adjacent ferromagnetic insulating (FI) layers with arbitrary magnetization. The aim of this study is twofold: On the one hand, we present a theoretical framework based on the quasiclassical Green's functions to calculate the Josephson and quasiparticle current through the junctions in terms of the different parameters characterizing it. Our theory predicts qualitative new results for the tunneling differential conductance, $dI/dV$, when the spin-splitting fields of the two superconductors are…
