Disentangling conditional effects of multiple regime shifts on Atlantic cod productivity

AbstractRegime shifts are increasingly prevalent in the ecological literature. However, definitions vary, and many detection methods are subjective. Here, we employ an operationally objective means of identifying regime shifts, using a Bayesian online change-point detection algorithm able to simultaneously identify shifts in the mean and(or) variance of time series data. This volume presents the long history of Syria through a jouney of the most important and recently-excavated archaeological sites. The sites cover over 1.8 million years and all regions in Syria; 110 academics have contributed information on 103 excavations for this volume. Based on these contributions the volume offers a detailed summary of the history of Syria, a history as important as any in terms of the development of human society. It is hoped that this knowledge will offer not only an increased understanding of the country but also act as a deterrent to the destruction of Syrian cultural heritage and facilitate the protection of Syrian sites.

Apical transport of osteopontin is independent of N-glycosylation and sialylation.

Studies of how epithelial surface polarity into apical and basolateral domains is generated and maintained have proposed that carbohydrate modifications serve as apical targeting signals for proteins by interacting with lectin sorters. However, the experimental evidence in support of N-glycans, O-glycans and sialic acids mediating apical transport is still very controversial. This could be partly due to the fact that in most studies exogenously expressed proteins were analysed. Abstract Glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored proteins (GPI-APs) play an important role in a variety of plant biological processes including growth, stress response, morphogenesis, signaling, and cell wall biosynthesis. The GPI anchor contains a lipid-linked glycan backbone that is synthesized in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) where it is subsequently transferred to the C-terminus of proteins containing a GPI signal peptide by a GPI transamidase. The structure and composition of the cell wall of yeast has so far been studied mainly in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. It is basically made up of three components: beta-glucans, chitin and mannose-containing glycoproteins, also called mannoproteins. Energy balance in single exposure multispectral sensors

International audience; Recent simulations of multispectral sensors are based on a simple Gaussian model, which includes filters transmittance and substrate absorption. In this paper we want to make the distinction between these two layers. We discuss the balance of energy by channel in multispectral solid state sensors and propose an updated simple Gaussian model to simulate multispectral sensors. Results are based on simulation of typical sensor configurations.

Detection of a reservoir water level using shape similarity metrics

The matching between reservoirs’ water edge and digital elevation model’s (DEM) contour lines allowed determining the water level at the acquisition date of satellite images. A preliminary study was conducted on the Castello dam (Magazzolo Lake), between Alessandria della Rocca and Bivona (Agrigento, south-Italy). Thermoanalytical studies on phases of D-mannitol

Abstract D-mannitol exists in several polymorphic crystalline forms. The conditions of crystallization are not well-defined, and in some cases mixtures of the different forms are obtained. In the DSC study the different forms melted nearly at the same temperature (166±°C). The heat of fusion of the k form was lower than those of the other forms. With slow heating rate (2 ° C min ) the δ form changed to k between 140 and 165 °C. The crystallization of D-mannitol from the melt gave from one to seven peaks in the DSC between 95 and 126 °C depending on cooling rates and the amounts of sample.
