[EN] Several strategies have been developed for sampling and determination of volatile thiols. The selectivity and sensitivity of the proposed methodologies are achieved by using a specific derivatizing reagent. The different procedures assayed are based on air sampling followed by derivatization of the analytes with OPA and isoleucine in alkaline solution. The derivatization products are separated and determined by liquid chromatography and fluorescence detection. Effect of Reynolds number and lithium cation insertion on titanium anodization

This work studies the influence of using hydrodynamic conditions (Reynolds number, Re = 0 to Re = 600) during Ti anodization and Li+ intercalation on anatase TiO2 nanotubes. The synthesized photocatalysts were characterized by using Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FE-SEM), Raman Confocal Laser Microscopy, Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS), Mott-Schottky analysis (M-S), photoelectrochemical hydrogen production and resistance to photocorrosion tests. Summary Respiratory failure (RF) is defined as a disturbance in gas exchange in the respiratory system which produces in arterial BGA a PaO 2 2 > 50 mmHg (hypercapnia). However hypoxaemic normocapnic (or hypocapnic) RF due to the failure in gas exchange is very common and should be separated from mechanical RF. Respiratory failure (hypercapnic) with or without hypoxaemia related to a failure in the respiratory pump. This review is focused on the pathophysiology of the mechanical RF less well known amongst anaesthesiologists.

Ruthenium Oxide Nanotubes Via Template Electrosynthesis

Ruthenium oxide nanotubes were fabricated by a single-step galvanostatic deposition using porous anodic alumina membrane as template. For the electrodeposition process, we used a electrochemical cell specifically designed in order to employ only 0.5 ml of 0.02 M RuCl3•xH2O solution. The deposition from a very small volume was specifically addressed owing to the high cost of ruthenium compounds, which could be of some relevance from an applicative point of view. Abstract Three new crystalline architectures based on acridinium trifluoromethanesulfonate salts [C13H10N]+[CF3SO3]– have been isolated as single crystals from the reaction of the dimeric hydroxo di-n-butylstannane trifluoromethanesulfonato complex [n-Bu2Sn(OH)(H2O)(CF3SO3)]2 (1) with acridine (C13H9N, Acr), in dichloromethane at room temperature. When an equimolar mixture of anthracene (C14H10, Ant) and acridine is initially used, the crystallization of a sandwich-type arrangement occurs, leading to the intercalation of one molecule of anthracene between two acridium trifluoromethanesulfonate salt molecules. Characterization of cell wall proteins from yeast and mycelial cells of Candida albicans by labelling with biotin: Comparison with other techniques

Candida albicans ATCC 26555 blastoconidia and blastoconidia bearing germ tubes were metabolically labelled by incubating the cells with 14C-labelled protein hydrolysate and were subsequently tagged with biotin. Double-labelled (radioactive and biotinylated) cell wall proteins and glycoproteins were extracted from intact cells of both growth forms by treatment with 2-mercaptoethanol (beta ME) and with beta-glucanases (Zymolyase) after treatment with beta ME. The beta ME- and Zymolyase-extracts were separated by sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and western blotted (immunoblotted) to nitrocellulose paper.
