Effects of heavy barbell hip thrust vs back squat on subsequent sprint performance in rugby players

The objective of this research was to compare the effect of Post-Activation Performance Enhancement (PAPE) exerted on the back squat (BS) versus the barbell hip thrust (HT) on the sprint performance (5- and 10-m). 17 male amateur rugby players participated in the study (age 22.14 ± 2.52 years; body mass 81.06 ± 9.6 kg; height 1.78 ± 0.05 m). All participants performed a dynamic maximum strength test (3RM) in BS and HT at maximum speed. Two randomized sessions were performed inducing PAPE using BS or HT trough three series with three repetitions at 85% 1RM eight minutes before the sprint tests. Abstract Background This systematic review aims to identify the effects of exercise interventions in patients with breast cancer (BCP) and survivors (BCS) on selected variables of physical fitness. Methods A comprehensive literature search was conducted using Medline and Scopus. Randomized controlled trials with isolated exercise interventions in BCP and BCS women (< 5 years from therapy completion) were included. Analysis of oblique rebound using a redefinition of the coefficient of tangential restitution coefficient

Abstract A redefinition of the coefficient of tangential restitution based on the separation of friction and restitution effects is presented. Using this modified coefficient of tangential restitution and the usual definitions of the coefficients of normal restitution and sliding friction, a description of oblique impacts in both stick and slip regimes is obtained. This, description, which is tested with available rebound data in literature, avoids sharp (apparent) variations in the coefficient tangential restitution with impact angle and can justify anomalous results reported by Calsamiglia et al. (1999) .

Magnetic-field-induced reentrance of Fermi-liquid behavior and spin-lattice relaxation rates in

Abstract A strong departure from Landau–Fermi liquid (LFL) behavior have been recently revealed in observed anomalies in both the magnetic susceptibility χ and the muon and 63Cu nuclear spin-lattice relaxation rates 1 / T 1 of YbCu 5 − x Au x ( x = 0.6 ). We show that the above anomalies along with magnetic-field-induced reentrance of LFL properties are indeed determined by the dependence of the quasiparticle effective mass M ∗ on magnetic field B and temperature T and demonstrate that violations of the Korringa law also come from M ∗ ( B , T ) dependence. Energy scales and magnetoresistance at a quantum critical point

The magnetoresistance (MR) of CeCoIn_5 is notably different from that in many conventional metals. We show that a pronounced crossover from negative to positive MR at elevated temperatures and fixed magnetic fields is determined by the scaling behavior of quasiparticle effective mass. At a quantum critical point (QCP) this dependence generates kinks (crossover points from fast to slow growth) in thermodynamic characteristics (like specific heat, magnetization etc) at some temperatures when a strongly correlated electron system transits from the magnetic field induced Landau Fermi liquid (LFL) regime to the non-Fermi liquid (NFL) one taking place at rising temperatures.
