Antikonvulsiva, 1. Mitt. Thiocarbamoylbutyroguanamine

1986

Anticonvulsivic Agents, I: Thiocarbamoylbutyroguanamines The thiocarbamoylbutyroguanamines 3a-c are accessible by addition of butyroguanamine (1) to the isothiocyanates 2a-c. Unsymmetrically substituted butyroguanamines 4 are obtainable by acylation of 3. Among the newly prepared compounds, 3c in particular exhibits anticonv…

Adaptive Bias Field Correction: Application on Abdominal MR Images

2017

Segmentation of medical images is one of the most important phases for disease diagnosis. Accuracy, robustness and stability of the results obtained by image segmentation is a major concern. Many segmentation methods rely on absolute values of intensity level, which are affected by a bias term due to in-homogeneous field in magnetic resonance images. The main objective of this paper is two folded: (1) To show efficiency of an energy minimization based approach, which uses intrinsic component optimization, on abdominal magnetic resonance images. (2) To propose an adaptive method to stop the optimization automatically. The proposed method can control the value of the energy functional and sto…

Visualizing Time Series State Changes with Prototype Based Clustering

2009

Modern process and condition monitoring systems produce a huge amount of data which is hard to analyze manually. Previous analyzing techniques disregard time information and concentrate only for the indentification of normal and abnormal operational states. We present a new method for visualizing operational states and overall order of the transitions between them. This method is implemented to a visualization tool which helps the user to see the overall development of operational states allowing to find causes for abnormal behaviour. In the end visualization tool is tested in practice with real time series data collected from gear unit.

The identification of vicinally substituted cyclohexane isomers in their mixtures by 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy.

2000

The radical addition reactions of organobromine compounds, XBr (X = CH2COOMe, PhCH2, CHBr2 and CCl3) with cyclohexene afforded mixtures of cis/trans isomer pairs of 1-X-2-Br-cyclohexanes. In addition to benzyl benzoyloxy derivatives are formed also, when benzoyl peroxide is used as an initiator. Owing to the great difficulties in separating these cis/trans isomer pairs, they are identified directly in their mixtures by NMR spectroscopy. In addition to one-dimensional (ID) 1H, proton decoupled 13C and DEPT-135, also two-dimensional (2D) 13C-13C INADEQUATE as well as 1H-13C HMQC experiments have been used in assigning the signals of each compound in their mixtures. The identification of each …

Virtual reality system for planning minimally invasive neurosurgery

2008

Object The authors report on their experience with a 3D virtual reality system for planning minimally invasive neurosurgical procedures. Methods Between October 2002 and April 2006, the authors used the Dextroscope (Volume Interactions, Ltd.) to plan neurosurgical procedures in 106 patients, including 100 with intracranial and 6 with spinal lesions. The planning was performed 1 to 3 days preoperatively, and in 12 cases, 3D prints of the planning procedure were taken into the operating room. A questionnaire was completed by the neurosurgeon after the planning procedure. Results After a short period of acclimatization, the system proved easy to operate and is currently used routinely for pre…

The Small Size and Superficial Location Suggest That Laparoscopic Partial Nephrectomy Is the First Choice for the Treatment of Juxtaglomerular Cell T…

2021

BackgroundJuxtaglomerular cell tumor (JGCT) is a very rare disease, and surgical resection is the only possible way to cure this tumor. Open nephrectomy and partial nephrectomy have been reported to manage JGCTs with excellent results in the previous reviews. Laparoscopic surgery has been popularized in recent years, while critical issues associated with laparoscopic surgical management have been seldom reported. We summarized the JGCTs in our center to discover the optimal surgical management and its anatomic foundation.MethodsIn this retrospective study, we enrolled a total of 14 JGCT patients. All patients received surgeries and were followed up for up to 11 years. We mainly summarized t…

CT and MR Imaging Evaluation of Hepatic Adenoma

2006

Hepatic adenoma is a rare benign epithelial tumor that is usually encountered in young women who use oral contraceptives. It is clinically significant because of the risk of hemorrhage and of its low-grade malignancy potential. Adenomas usually are mildly hypervascular at contrast-enhanced CT and MR imaging, and heterogeneous due to the presence of hemorrhage, necrosis, calcifications and fat. The objective of our study was to illustrate the CT and MR imaging findings of hepatic adenoma.

Perfusion MRI in normal and abnormal pituitary gland. A preliminary study.

1997

Perfusion MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) of the pituitary gland was performed in 20 healthy volunteers and 63 patients with various lesions involving the pituitary gland. All patients underwent sequential contrast-enhanced MRI using spoiled gradient recalled sequences with high temporal resolution (7 seconds). Four pituitary areas (pituitary stalk, posterior lobe, postero-superior, and antero-inferior adenohypophysis) were tested with a selected region of interest. Maximal contrast percentual variation was calculated. The timing of enhancement in normal patients matched perfectly with normal pituitary vascularization. Abnormal timing in pathological condition was investigated.

Tissue characterization of benign brain tumors: Use of NMR-tissue parameters

1988

Abstract To evaluate the potentials of NMR tissue parameters for tissue characterization we investigated 68 patients with benign brain tumors. Tissue parameters were accurately measured by a recently developed interlaced triple sequence. Each individual tumor was characterized by a set of three numbers (relaxation times T 1 and T 2 and proton density Rho). Different tumors exhibited significant overlaps of the three tissue parameters. Therefore a reliable prediction of the histological diagnosis based on the quantitative analysis of tissue parameters alone was not possible. T 2 -prolongation correlated well with water content and “regressive changes” in meningiomas and neuromas.

Follicular adenomas exhibit a unique metabolic profile. ¹H NMR studies of thyroid lesions.

2013

Thyroid cancer is the most common endocrine malignancy. However, more than 90% of thyroid nodules are benign. It remains unclear whether thyroid carcinoma arises from preexisting benign nodules. Metabolomics can provide valuable and comprehensive information about low molecular weight compounds present in living systems and further our understanding of the biology regulating pathological processes. Herein, we applied ¹H NMR-based metabolic profiling to identify the metabolites present in aqueous tissue extracts of healthy thyroid tissue (H), non-neoplastic nodules (NN), follicular adenomas (FA) and malignant thyroid cancer (TC) as an alternative way of investigating cancer lesions. Multivar…
