Assessment of natural hazards in urban planning policies of the municipalities in the province of Alicante (Spain). Legislation and risk mapping
2018
The defined adsorption site of sodium on the TiO2(110)–(1×1) surface
2004
The adsorption site of sodium on the TiO2(1 1 0)–(1 × 1) surface was studied by extended X-ray absorption fine structure. For coverage ranging between 0.25 and 0.5 ML, we find that sodium is on an ‘in-between' site where it is bound to two bridging oxygen atoms at 2.25 Å and one in-plane oxygen atom at 2.40 Å, in full agreement with DFT calculations. At higher coverage the site becomes an hollow site where the sodium atom is equidistant to the three oxygen atoms at 2.30 Å, while metallic sodium clusters are also formed at the surface.
High-Pressure Phase Diagram and Superionicity of Alkaline Earth Metal Difluorides
2018
We study the high-pressure–high-temperature phase diagram and superionicity of alkaline earth metal (AEM) difluorides (AF2, A = Ca, Sr, Ba) with first-principles simulation methods. We find that the superionic behavior of SrF2 and BaF2 at high pressures differ appreciably from that previously reported for CaF2 [Phys. Rev. Lett. 2014, 113, 235902]. Specifically, the critical superionic temperature of SrF2 and BaF2 in the low-pressure cubic fluorite phase is not reduced by effect of compression, and the corresponding high-pressure orthorhombic contunnite phases become superionic at elevated temperatures. We get valuable microscopic insights into the superionic features of AEM difluorides in b…

A new manganese(III) oxamato dimer possesing an unprecedented Mn2(μ-O2CR)(μ-OH2⋯O2 CR) core has been synthesised, structurally and magnetically characterised, and used as a catalyst for the oxidation of alkanes to alcohols and ketones by ButO2H and O2 in CH2Cl2 at rt.
Monolayers of dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine at the oil-water interface
1995
Abstract Monolayers of dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine at the interfaces waterbicylohexyl, waterdodecane and waterhexadecane were studied by fluorescence microscopy and thermodynamic measurements. The experiments show that the oil also partitions in the liquid condensed (LC) monolayer phase with concentration depending on the type of oil and the lateral pressure. In contrast to monolayers of dipalmitoylphosphatidylethanolamine the larger molecular area per head group enables oil partitioning in the LC phase even if there is a mismatch between the aliphatic tails of liquid and alkane.
Theoretical characterization of iron and manganese porphyrins for catalyzed saturated alkane hydroxylations
1997
Abstract The theoretical characterization of porphin (H2Por), iron and manganese porphyrins MIII(Por) and their chlorine derivatives MIII(Por)Cl has been carried out. This work represents a first step for modelling catalyzed saturated alkane hydroxylations. The chlorine atom is responsible for the existence of a dipole moment of 1.2–2.0 D in the MIII(Por)Cl molecules and for a negative value of the mean quadrupole moment (−16–(−14)DA). The charge of the metal atom (1.8–2.2 e) is rather varied (to 2.1–2.6 e) and the effective polarizability (2.8–2.9 A3) is increased (to 3.5–3.6 A3) by the addition of the chlorine atom. Starting from the porphin molecule, the presence of the metal atom decrea…
Supramolecular Aggregates in Vacuum: Positively Mono-Charged Sodium Alkanesulfonate Clusters
2010
The formation and structural features of positively mono-charged aggregates of sodium bis(2-ethylhexyl) sulfosuccinate (AOT) and sodium methane—(MetS), butane—(ButS) and octane—(OctS) sulfonate molecules in the gas phase have been investigated by electrospray ionization mass spectrometry, energy-resolved mass spectrometry and density functional theory (DFT) calculations. The experimental results show that the center-of-mass collision energy required to dissociate 50% of these mono-charged aggregates scantly depends on the length of the alkyl chain as well as on the aggregation number. This, together with the large predominance of mono-charged species in the mass spectra, was rationalized i…
Characterization and quantitation of mixtures of alkyl ether sulfates and carboxylic acids by capillary electrophoresis with indirect photometric det…
2003
The separation, characterization, and determination of mixtures of alkyl ether sulfates (AES) and fatty acids (C10-C16) in background electrolytes (BGEs) containing acetonitrile (ACN)-water mixtures is addressed. Due to inhibition of the ionization of the carboxylate groups, the migration time and the resolution between the fatty acids decreased when the water content of the BGE was reduced, but efficiency and resolution between the AES oligomers improved. The migration times increased and resolution improved by substituting 5% ACN by an equivalent amount of dioxane. A complete separation of the two surfactant classes, up to the AES oligomers with 8 ethylene oxide units (EOs) with respect t…
Organocatalytic enantioselective functionalization of indoles in the carbocyclic ring with cyclic imines
2019
[EN] An organocatalytic enantioselective functionalization in the carbocyclic ring of indoles with benzoxathiazine 2,2-dioxides is described using a quinine-derived bifunctional organocatalyst. This aza-Friedel-Crafts reaction provides 4-indolyl, 5-indolyl and 7-indolyl sulfamidate derivatives in good yields (up to 99%) and with moderate to high enantioselectivities (up to 86% ee).
Analytical methods for the characterization and determination of nonionic surfactants in cosmetics and environmental matrices
2013
Nonionic synthetic surfactants, constituted of an assortment of classes, are common ingredients of industrial, household and body-care products. Alone or in combination with anionic surfactants, they perform a variety of functions including cleaning action, emulsification, skin conditioning, appearance and consistency modification, solubilization and dispersing agents. By far fatty alcohol ethoxylates (AEs) and alkylphenol ethoxylates (APEs) are more extensively used than any other nonionic surfactant class; however, works appearing in the literature making reference to the analysis of other nonionic surfactant classes have also been collected in this review. The production volume worldwide…
