We prove that a non-spherical irreducible Coxeter group is (directly) indecomposable and that an indefinite irreducible Coxeter group is strongly indecomposable in the sense that all its finite index subgroups are (directly) indecomposable. On the classification of Kim and Kostrikin manifolds

International audience; We completely classify the topological and geometric structures of some series of closed connected orientable 3-manifolds introduced by Kim and Kostrikin in [20, 21] as quotient spaces of certain polyhedral 3-cells by pairwise identifications of their boundary faces. Then we study further classes of closed orientable 3-manifolds arising from similar polyhedral schemata, and describe their topological properties.

Mount Auxois, the theatre of operations during the siege of Alesia, was the object of a field study aimed at defining the area's natural hydraulic barriers. By combining archaeological and historical knowledge, the influence of this environment during a crisis situation such as that of 52 BC was evaluated. Quantification of the water available during the summer months, together with knowledge of the positions occupied by the opposing forces during the siege, provided more detailed information as to how the warring factions organised water supply and water management within their respective entrenchments.

In the beginning of 2008 a preventive excavation has been conducted on about 1200 m2 of a large antique cemetery situated upon the butte Saint-Jean at Soissons (Aisne). In this cemetery, almost unknown, located south-west of the Roman town Augusta Suessionum a consistent activity in the part being excavated took place between the Augustan era and mid 2nd c. The total number of inhumations uncovered is 186 (mainly of infants). Cremations were executed from the very beginning altogether with inhumations, in more or less close proximity to them according to periods, then became predominant to the detriment of burials which were just previously arranged. Artikkelen undersoker literacy-syn og kvalitetstrekk i abc-apper fra kommersielle produsenter ved a analysere ni abc-apper for norskspraklige forskolebarn. Undersokelsen er teoretisk forankra i sosiokulturell literacy-forskning og sosialsemiotiske perspektiver pa multimodalitet og semiotisk teknologi. Analysen viser at appene domineres av sju typer literacy-aktiviteter: bokstav-lyd-kopling, bokstavutforming, staving, hukommelsesaktiviteter, tekstproduksjon, lesing og sang. For hver av disse aktivitetene identifiseres det trekk som bidrar til a svekke eller styrke kvaliteten, totalt tretten trekk. The puffs and Balbiani rings are the visible expression of sites of genetic activity (Beerman, 1952). Since Beermann’s original hypothesis, puffing patterns for several species of Diptera have been described. Thus for the genus Drosophila, Ashburner (1967, 1969a and 1969b) has reported the puffing pattern of Drosophila melanogaster and Drosophila simulans, Beredens (1965) of Drosophila hydei, and Moriwaki and Ito (1969) of Drosophila ananassae. In a previous paper Frutos and Latorre (1981) have determined puffing patterns of the J and U chromosomes of Drosophila subobscura. Dzīvsudraba piesārņojums pelēkā roņa Halichoerus grypus audos Rīgas jūras līcī

Dzīvsudrabs ir viens no toksiskākajiem piesārņojuma veidiem ūdens ekosistēmās un tam ir tendence biomagnificēties. Visvairāk piesārņojuma biomagnifikācijai pakļautas sugas, kas atrodas barības ķēdes augšgalā. Baltijas jūrā šāda suga ir pelēkais ronis, taču pētījumu par dzīvsudraba piesārņojumu Baltijas jūras pelēko roņu populācijā ir ļoti maz. Pētījumā tika analizēts dzīvsudraba daudzums juvenilu pelēkā roņa īpatņu audos, izmantojot “Hydra IIC Mercury Analyzer”. No septiņpadsmit Rīgas jūras līča piekrastē atrastiem roņu mazuļiem tika ievākts akots, muskuļaudi, aknas, nieres, sirds, smadzenes un kauls (astes skriemelis).
