Enteropathogenic Escherichia coli O103 from rabbit elicits actin stress fibers and focal adhesions in HeLa epithelial cells, cytopathic effects that …
1997
Escherichia coli O103, a major agent of weaned-rabbit diarrhea in Western Europe, was previously shown to produce diarrhea and attaching-and-effacing intestinal lesions in experimentally infected rabbits and to possess a homolog of the eaeA gene of enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC). In the present study, we have shown that although negative in the fluorescent-actin staining test on HeLa cells, prototype rabbit E. coli O103 strain B10 was able to induce an original cytopathic effect (CPE) in the same interaction model. This CPE was characterized by a generalized reorganization of the actin cytoskeleton and the formation of focal adhesions on the entire surface of the target cells. These effect…
Double-application of platelet-rich plasma on bone healing in rabbits
2010
Objective: Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is considered to enhance bone formation especially at early stages of wound healing, depending on the limited and short life-span of platelets and growth factors. The aim of this study was to evaluate efficacy of double-application of PRP (DA-PRP) on bone healing in a rabbit calvarial defect model. Study design: Twenty-eight rabbits, each had two surgically prepared calvarial bone defects (10mm diameter), were included in this study and randomly divided into six groups. Defects (n=56) were treated with single-application of PRP (SA-PRP)(n=10), SA-PRP and beta-tricalciumphosphate (SA-PRP+TCP)(n=10), DA-PRP (n=8), DA-PRP and beta-tricalciumphosphate (DA-P…
Direct transfer of vitrified rabbit embryos.
1994
In this study we looked at the feasibility of transferring vitrified rabbit embryos directly into recipient does. Compacted morulae were vitrified in a solution of 20% ethylene glycol and 20% dimethyl sulfoxide. After thawing, and without step-wise diluted solution, the vitrified embryos were transferred into the recipient's uterine horns. Survival rate at birth differed from fresh rabbit embryos (40% vs 55%, P0.05). However, the percentage of does that delivered (94%) and the survival rate suggested this method is suitable for both storage and simple transfer of rabbit morulae.
Análisis tiempo-frecuencia de la fibrilación ventricular. Estudio experimental
2006
Introduction and objectives. The analysis of frequency variability during ventricular fibrillation has yielded inconsistent results. We used an experimental model of ventricular fibrillation, with a short timescale, to analyze variations in frequency and their associated spatial distribution. Methods. Epicardial recordings of ventricular fibrillation were made in 10 perfused isolated rabbit heart preparations using a multiple electrode system (i.e., 240 unipolar electrodes). Both spectral and time-frequency analysis were used to derive the dominant frequency in the anterolateral wall of the left ventricle. Results. Linear regression analysis showed that there was a good correlation between …
Thymic transplantation for relief of immunodeficiency diseases.
1979
Tremendous advances have been made in replacement therapy regimens for the correction of immunodeficiency in transplant patients. Recently, cultured thymic fragments were shown to be devoid of lethal graft-versus-host cells and research in this area indicates that thymic transplantation may have a sustained positive effect in immunosuppressed patients.
Évaluation neuro-éthologique du comportement alimentaire olfacto-guidé du lapin nouveau-né
2012
Pheromone-induced odor learning modifies Fos expression in the newborn rabbit brain.
2013
Research report; International audience; Associative learning contributes crucially to adjust the behavior of neonates to the permanently changing environment. In the European rabbit, the mammary pheromone (MP) excreted in milk triggers sucking behavior in newborns, and additionally promotes very rapid learning of initially neutral odor cues. Such stimuli become then as active as the MP itself to elicit the orocephalic motor responses involved in suckling. In this context, the rabbit is an interesting model to address the question of brain circuits early engaged by learning and memory. Here, we evaluated the brain activation (olfactory bulb and central regions) induced in 4-day-old pups by …
Deoxyribonucleases in Herpes simplex Virus Type 1 and 2 Infected Primary Rabbit Kidney Cells
1980
Abstract In primary rabbit kidney cells infected with herpes simplex virus four different neutral deoxyribonuclease activities can be detected by means of the deoxyribonuclease assay in DNA-containing polyacrylamide gels following their separation by discelectrophoresis. The method is suitable to follow independently the change in each activity of the different enzymes using only about 5 × 105 cells for each assay during the time-course of infection. Under these conditions one enzyme activity is constant, two disappear while the activity of a fourth one present only in infected cells, increases.
Perception des molécules chimiosensorielles en mélange : impact du métabolisme périphérique
2015
The chemosensory system is highly sensitive and discriminant. To ensure these properties, rapid and effective mechanisms are necessary to eliminate chemosensory molecules reaching the perception interface. The xenobiotic metabolizing enzymes (XMEs) present in the peri-receptor space may participate to the clearance of molecules thus limiting chemosensory receptors saturation and promoting the termination of the signal. In our PhD thesis, the involvement of these enzymes in the detection of stimuli in mixture was assessed in two animal models allowing to test complementary aspects. In Drosophila melanogaster, a sensory exposure to caffeine causes a reversible alteration of the taste percepti…
