Reducing the observation error in a WSN through a consensus-based subspace projection

An essential process in a Wireless Sensor Network is the noise mitigation of the measured data, by exploiting their spatial correlation. A widely used technique to achieve this reduction is to project the measured data into a proper subspace. We present a low complexity and distributed algorithm to perform this projection. Vision based attitude and altitude estimation for UAVs in dark environments

This paper presents a system dedicated to the real-time estimation of attitude and altitude for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) under low light and dark environment. This system consists in a fisheye camera, which allows to cover a large field of view (FOV), and a laser circle projector mounted on a fixed baseline. The approach, close to structured light systems, uses the geometrical information obtained by the projection of the laser circle onto the ground plane and perceived by the camera. Also, the link prediction effectiveness may vary across different relations within a social group. In practice, modelling errors caused by high-order unmodelled dynamics and external disturbances are unavoidable. How to ensure the robustness of an adaptive controller with respect to such modelling errors is always a critical concern. In this study, the authors consider the design of event-triggered robust adaptive control for a class of discrete-time uncertain systems which involve such modelling errors and also are allowed to be non-minimum phase. This paper presents different prediction methods based on decision tree and ensemble learning to suggest possible next assembly steps. The predictor is designed to be a component of a sensor-based assembly assistance system whose goal is to provide support via adaptive instructions, considering the assembly progress and, in the future, the estimation of user emotions during training. Generative Design for Additively Manufactured Textiles in Orthopaedic Applications

AbstractThe aim of this work is to implement a new process for the design and production of orthopaedic devices to realize entirely by Additive Manufacturing (AM). In particular, a generative algorithm for parametric modelling of flexible structures to use in orthopaedic devices has been developed. The developed modelling algorithm has been applied to a case study based on the design and production of a customized elbow orthosis made by Selective Laser Sintering.
