Machine learning at the interface of structural health monitoring and non-destructive evaluation

While both non-destructive evaluation (NDE) and structural health monitoring (SHM) share the objective of damage detection and identification in structures, they are distinct in many respects. This paper will discuss the differences and commonalities and consider ultrasonic/guided-wave inspection as a technology at the interface of the two methodologies. CAPTCHA un tās alternatīvas Tjūringa testa realizācijai tīmekļa lapās

Tehnoloģiju attīstības rezultātā liela daļa no tīmekļa lietotāju skaita ir roboti. To spējas pieaug un veiktās darbības vairumā gadījumu var atstāt negatīvu ietekmi, tāpēc aizsardzības nolūkos tiek veidots arvien sarežģītāks CAPTCHA mehānisms. Šādas tendences rezultātā tiek zaudēts viens no reversā Tjuringa testa pamatnosacījumiem– tam jābūt cilvēkam viegli risināmam. Comparison between topographic and photogrammetric techniques for deformation monitoring of the dome of the Massimo Theatre in Palermo

This paper shows the first results of a study aimed at monitoring the deformations of the dome of the Massimo Theatre in Palermo caused by thermal dilatations, with the use of topographic and photogrammetric integrated techniques. Particularly, two robotic total stations and high precision digital photogrammetric systems were employed. In order to correlate the displacements of the rollers on which the steel structure of the dome rest with the thermal gradients, different thermal images were acquired by a thermal imaging camera. Performance evaluation of robotic knowledge representation (PERK)

In this paper, we explore some ways in which symbolic knowledge representations have been evaluated in the past and provide some thoughts on what should be considered when applying and evaluating these types of knowledge representations for real-time robotics applications. The emphasis of this paper is that the robotic applications require real-time access to information, which has not been one of the aspects measured in traditional symbolic representation evaluation approaches.

Symbolic and conceptual representation of dynamic scenes: Interpreting situation calculus on conceptual spaces

In (Chella et al. [1,2]) we proposed a framework for the representation of visual knowledge, with particular attention to the analysis and the representation of scenes with moving objects and people. One of our aims is a principled integration of the models developed within the artificial vision community with the propositional knowledge representation systems developed within symbolic AI. In the present note we show how the approach we adopted fits well with the representational choices underlying one of the most popular symbolic formalisms used in cognitive robotics, namely the situation calculus.
