Geotomus granulosus, a peculiar sehirine-like new species of the subfamily Cydninae (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Cydnidae) from Burundi

Geotomus granulosus sp. n. is described from Burundi, and is the third burrower bug species recorded hitherto from this country. This burrower bug resembles species of two Sehirinae genera, i.e. Ochetostethus Fieber, 1860 and Ochetostethomorpha Schumacher, 1913, in its dorsal body habitus. However, all its crucial diagnostic characters (the body chaetotaxy, the shape of evaporatoria and the peritreme, the meso- and metathoracic wings venation, and the shape of spermatheca) demonstrate it represents the genus Geotomus Mulsant et Rey, 1866 (subfamily Cydninae, tribe Geotomini sensu lato).

'We have a solution': Delivering on the promise to take national responsibility for nuclear waste management

We examine the realization of the umbrella promise to assume national responsibility for the final disposal of spent nuclear fuel. Three case studies are used to illustrate how Finland delivers on the promise to take care of its own nuclear waste - a promise that has greatly contributed to the legitimacy of nuclear power in Finland. The article shows how this promise is being challenged by new competitors, business visionaries, and the public. The case studies illustrate the tensions between those who made the promise and the actors who interpret and mobilize the promise for varying purposes and under changing circumstances. Zbiorowiska z klasy Utricularietea intermedio-minoris Den Hartog et Segal 1964 em. Pietsch 1965 należą do wyspecjalizowanych pod względem ekologicznym fitocenoz, występujących w wodach oligotroficznych, mezotroficznych oraz dystroficznych na podłożu torfowym. W Polsce należą do grupy zbiorowisk bardzo słabo zbadanych. Bioremediacja, inaczej bioodzysk, to metoda polegająca na zredukowaniu wielkości lub transformacji w formy mniej szkodliwe, zanieczyszczeń powietrza wody oraz gleb za pomocą układów składających się z organizmów żywych. Ze względu na układ, jaki stosujemy, wyróżniamy różne typy bioremediacji: fitoremediację (zastosowanie znajdują rośliny) oraz biohydrometalurgię (korzystamy z drobnoustrojów). This research investigates the long¿run after¿performance of firms conducting seasoned equity offering in the Spanish market during the period 1993¿1999. Due to statistical and conceptual problems related to the estimation and contrast of long¿horizon returns, we analyse the robustness of results to different methodologies. We obtain evidence that issuers experience negative abnormal returns economically and statistically significant during the year after the event. Maģistra darbā pētīta Reimona Keno romāna Zazie dans le metro sarunvalodas atveide Ulda Krastiņa tulkojumā latviešu valodā – Zazī un metro. Tā mērķis ir noskaidrot, kā un ar kādiem tulkošanas paņēmieniem ir tulkota sarunvalodas leksika. Pētījuma gaitā tika gūts ieskats teorētiskajā literatūrā par valodas stiliem, leksikas slāņiem un tulkošanas paņēmieniem, kā arī pētījumos par R. Keno darbos lietoto leksiku. Tika atlasīts vairāk nekā 900 sarunvalodas leksikas vienību – sarunvalodas un kontekstuāli sarunvalodas vārdi, vienkāršrunas vārdi, arhaismi, svešvārdi, žargonismi, vulgārismi, okazionālismi un frazeoloģismi. Tämän tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli selvittää kansanopistossa opiskelun merkitystä opiskelijalle. Aineisto kerättiin sähköisellä kyselylomakkeella, joka lähetettiin lukuvuonna 2010–2011 yhdeksässä eri G-laatuopistossa opiskelleille päätoimisille vapaan sivistystyön opintolinjojen opiskelijoille. The ability to utilize oxygen has been shown to affect a wide variety of physiological factors often considered beneficial for survival. As the ability to learn can be seen as one of the core factors of survival in mammals, we studied whether selective breeding for endurance running, an indication of aerobic capacity, also has an effect on learning. Rats selectively bred over 23 generations for their ability to perform forced treadmill running were trained in an appetitively motivated discrimination-reversal classical conditioning task, an alternating T-maze task followed by a rule change (from a shift-win to stay-win rule) and motor learning task.
