Gender Equality and Maternal Burnout: A 40-Country Study
2022
International audience; In Western countries, recent decades have witnessed a revolution toward gender equality. Inequalities have been greatly reduced in areas such as education or employment. Because inequalities lead to distress, this development has largely benefited women. One notable exception is the realm of parenting, which has remained rife with inequalities even in the most egalitarian countries. We hypothesized that experiencing inequality in parenting when one holds egalitarian values and raising a child in a country characterized by a high level of gender equality in other areas, increases mothers’ psychological distress in the specific area of parenting. Multilevel modeling an…
Semantic to intelligent web era
2013
International audience; The Web has known a very fast evolution: going from the Web 1.0, known as Web of Documents where users are merely consumers of static information, to the more dynamic Web 2.0, known as social or collaborative Web where users produce and consume information simultaneously, and entering the more sophisticated Web 3.0, known as the Semantic Web by giving information a well-defined meaning so that it becomes more easily accessible by human users and automated processes. Fostering service intelligence and atomicity (the ability of autonomous services to interact automatically), remains one of the most upcoming challenges of the Semantic Web. This promotes the dawn of a ne…
Conceptual vs. perceptual wine spaces: Does expertise matter?
2008
Abstract This study explores the differences in wine categorization between wine experts and novice wine consumers using 10 Melon de Bourgogne (MB) and 10 Chardonnay (CH) wines. Participants performed a free sorting task based on odor similarity followed by a CH and a MB typicality rating task and a liking rating. All tasks were performed orthonasally. We observed a clear agreement between experts concerning typicality scores. Moreover, despite a slight overlap we found a clear differentiation between CH and MB for experts’ typicality scores. For novices, no such agreement on typicality scores was observed and we found a complete overlap between both types of wines. These results suggest th…
Semantic and perceptive organisation of Sauvignon blanc wine characteristics: Influence of Expertise.
2011
Abstract The influence of expertise on hierarchical organisation of knowledge about Sauvignon blanc wine sensory properties was investigated. Sixteen wine professionals (‘experts’) and 16 wine consumers in New Zealand organised 67 experimenter-provided descriptors of Sauvignon blanc wine by building an hierarchical tree with the sensory properties (see Urdapilleta, Giboreau, Manetta, Houix, & Richard, 2006 ). Each participant organised the Sauvignon blanc sensory properties under two conditions, a Semantic condition (memory-based) and a Perceptive condition (experiential). The Perceptive condition followed the Semantic condition and involved participants tasting three Sauvignon blanc wines,…
A case of normal word reading but impaired letter naming
2006
A case of a word/letter dissociation is described. The present patient has a quasi-normal word reading performance (both at the level of speed and accuracy) while he has major problems in nonword and letter reading. More specifically, he has strong difficulties in retrieving letter names but preserved abilities in letter identification. This study complements previous cases reporting a similar word/letter dissociation by focusing more specifically on word reading and letter naming latencies. The results provide new constraints for modeling the role of letter knowledge within reading processes and during reading acquisition or rehabilitation.

CLEARMiner: a new algorithm for mining association patterns on heterogeneous time series from climate data
2010
International audience; Recently, improvements in sensor technology contributed to increasing in spatial data acquisition. The use of remote sensing in many countries and states, where agricultural business is a large part of their gross income, can provide a valuable source to improve their economy. The combination of climate and remote sensing data can reveal useful information, which can help researchers to monitor and estimate the production of agricultural crops. Data mining techniques are the main tools to analyze and extract relationships and patterns. In this context, this paper presents a new algorithm for mining association patterns in Geo-referenced databases of climate and satel…
User profile matching in social networks
2010
International audience; Inter-social networks operations and functionalities are required in several scenarios (data integration, data enrichment, information retrieval, etc.). To achieve this, matching user profiles is required. Current methods are so restrictive and do not consider all the related problems. Particularly, they assume that two profiles describe the same physical person only if the values of their Inverse Functional Property or IFP (e.g. the email address, homepage, etc.) are the same. However, the observed trend in social networks is not fully compatible with this assumption since users tend to create more than one social network account (for personal use, for work, etc.) w…
