Direct observation of elemental segregation in InGaN nanowires by X-ray nanoprobe
2011
Using synchrotron radiation nanoprobe, this work reports on the elemental distribution in single Inx Ga1–xN nanowires (NWs) grown by molecular beam epitaxy directly on Si(111) substrates. Single NWs dispersed on Al covered sapphire were characterized by nano-X-ray fluorescence, Raman scattering and photoluminescence spectroscopy. Both Ga and In maps reveal an inhomogeneous axial distribution inside sin- gle NWs. The analysis of NWs from the same sample but with different dimensions suggests a decrease of In segregation with the reduction of NW diameter, while Ga distribution seems to remain unaltered. Photoluminescence and Raman scattering measurements carried out on ensembles of NWs exhibi…
Normal and relaxor ferroelectric behavior in the Ba1−xPbx(Ti1−yZry)O3 solid solutions
2017
Abstract Polycrystalline samples of Ba 1−x Pb x (Ti 1−y Zr y )O 3 (BPTZ) with x = 0.025 & 0.1 and 0.10 ≤ y ≤ 0.50 have been synthesized by high-temperature solid-state reaction technique. X-ray diffraction reveals the formation of single phase with tetragonal or cubic structure. Dielectric investigations were carried out in the temperature range from 80 to 445 K with frequencies range from 10 2 to 10 6 Hz. A broad dielectric anomaly coupled with the shift of dielectric maxima toward a higher temperature with increasing frequency indicates either a diffuse phase transition or relaxor behavior in some of these ceramics. Whatever lead content, when zirconium is substituted by titanium, T C an…
High-pressure x-ray-absorption study of GaSe
2002
The III-VI layered semiconductor InSe has been studied by high-pressure single crystal x-ray absorption spectroscopy up to a maximum pressure of 14 GPa. The In-Se distance has been measured in both the low- pressure layered phase and the high-pressure NaCl phase. The bond compressibility in the layered phase is lower than the ``a'' crystallographic parameter compressibility, which implies an increase of the angle between the In-Se bond and the layer plane. Under plausible hypothesis, a description of the evolution of the whole structure with pressure is given. In particular, the intralayer distance is observed to increase with increasing pressure. A plausible precursor defect and a simple m…

Desulfurization of hydrocarbons is an important step in the processing of petroleum products, which requires an accurate and robust method for the sulfur-containing component evaluation. On the other hand, sulfur-containing heteroatomic hydrocarbon additives are harmful for people and the environment. Therefore, it is advantageous to conduct laboratory tests at low volumes to reduce doses of exposure of sulfur-containing vapors to the personnel. Microfluidics is an emerging platform that provides an advantage to operate with low volumes. The microfluidic dielectric spectroscopy approach is proposed in the current contribution as a platform for determination of the concentration of polar het…
Light-induced nonthermal population of optical phonons in nanocrystals
2017
Raman spectroscopy is widely used to study bulk and nanomaterials, where information is frequently obtained from spectral line positions and intensities. In this study, we monitored the Raman spectrum of ensembles of semiconductor nanocrystals (NCs) as a function of optical excitation intensity (optical excitation experiments). We observe that in NCs the red-shift of the Raman peak position with increasing light power density is much steeper than that recorded for the corresponding bulk material. The increase in optical excitation intensity results also in an increasingly higher temperature of the NCs as obtained with Raman thermometry through the commonly used Stokes/anti-Stokes intensity …
Evaluation of the Colorimetric Performance of Single-Sensor Image Acquisition Systems Employing Colour and Multispectral Filter Array
2015
International audience; Single-sensor colour imaging systems mostly employ a colour filter array (CFA). This enables the acquisition of a colour image by a single sensor at one exposure at the cost of reduced spatial resolution. The idea of CFA fit itself well with multispectral purposes by incorporating more than three types of filters into the array which results in multispectral filter array (MSFA). In comparison with a CFA, an MSFA trades spatial resolution for spectral resolution. A simulation was performed to evaluate the colorimetric performance of such CFA/MSFA imaging systems and investigate the trade-off between spatial resolution and spectral resolution by comparing CFA and MSFA …
High-Resolution Stimulated Raman Spectroscopy and Analysis of the ν1 Stretching Band of GeD4
2007
The high-resolution stimulated Raman spectrum of the ν1 band of GeD4 with natural isotopic abundance germanium has been recorded. It has been analyzed as part of the ν1/ν3 stretching dyad. The ν1 and ν3 band centers have been deduced for all the isotopologues. Copyright © 2006 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
Carbonyl-functionalized quaterthiophenes: a study of the vibrational Raman and electronic absorption/emission properties guided by theoretical calcul…
2011
This work investigates the evolution of the molecular, vibrational, and optical properties within a family of carbonyl-functionalized quaterthiophenes: 5,5'''-diheptanoyl-2,2':5',2'':5'',2'''-quaterthiophene (1), 5,5'''-diperfluorohexylcarbonyl-2,2':5',2'':5'',2'''-quaterthiophene (2), and 2,7-[bis(5-perfluorohexylcarbonylthien-2-yl)]-4H-cyclopenta[2,1-b:3,4-b']-dithiophene-4-one (3). The analysis is performed by Raman and UV/Vis absorption/excitation/fluorescence spectroscopy in combination with density functional calculations. Theoretical calculations show that substitution with carbonyl groups and perfluorohexyl chains induces progressive quinoidization of the π-conjugated backbone in co…
Multiple vibrational resonances in the Raman spectra of liquid ethanes
1990
The Raman spectra of liquid ethane, ethane-d3 and ethane-d6 were recorded and analysed. The CH3 and CD3 stretching regions were computer resolved using Cauchy-Gaussian and Voigt functions to account for asymmetric band shapes. Multiple vibrational resonances were investigated using the wavenumbers and observed intensities in these regions. The developed basis functions show strong mixing of the levels in these regions. In general the resonances appear to be less strong in the liquid phase than reported in previous studies of the gaseous state. Some new assignments in the liquid-state spectra of ethanes could be suggested.
Fourier-transform spectroscopy and deperturbation analysis of the spin-orbit coupled A(1)Σ(+) and b(3)Π states of KRb.
2016
Fourier-transform A(1)Σ(+) - b(3)Π → X(1)Σ(+) laser-induced fluorescence spectra were recorded for the natural mixture of (39,41)K(85,87)Rb isotopologues produced in a heatpipe oven. Overall 4200 rovibronic term values of the spin-orbit coupled A(1)Σ(+) and b(3)Π states were determined with an uncertainty of about 0.01 cm(-1) in the energy range [10 850, 14 200] cm(-1) covering rotational quantum numbers J' ∈ [3, 280]. Direct deperturbation analysis of the A ∼ b complex performed within the framework of the A(1)Σ(+) ∼ b(3)ΠΩ=0,1,2 coupled-channel approach reproduced experimental data with a standard deviation of 0.004 cm(-1). Initial parameters of the internuclear potentials and spin-orbit …
