2016
In France, the university is experiencing the problem of failure, especially in the first cycle. This article aims to establish, in a chronological perspective, a literature review of the contributions of educational research in the French context, the various factors contributing to this failure. The aim is firstly to show how evolved the research on the determinants of academic success since the 1990s. It is, secondly, to examine what types of research can still be conducted on the subject. That will lead us in particular that, despite questioning from several decades of university teaching, few studies have so far been conducted in the French context regarding the impact of teaching prac…
Quantitative importance of staminodes for female reproductive success inParnassia palustrisunder contrasting environmental conditions
2003
The five sterile stamens, or staminodes, in Parnassia palustris act both as false and as true nectaries. They attract pollinators with their conspicuous, but non-rewarding tips, and also produce nectar at the base. We removed staminodes experimentally and compared pollinator visitation rate and duration and seed set in flowers with and without staminodes in two different populations. We also examined the relative importance of the staminode size to other plant traits. Finally, we bagged, emasculated, and supplementary cross-pollinated flowers to determine the pollination strategy and whether reproduction was limited by pollen availability. Flowers in both populations were highly dependent o…
Introduction : From Fundamentals to Advances in Crowdfunding Research and Practice
2020
AbstractThe chapter introduces the phenomenon of crowdfunding while presenting its definition and main manifestations in recent years. It then discusses the roles played by the various parties to a crowdfunding transaction, as well as the benefits each may gain from such engagement. Overall, it argues for a win-win situation, where all parties become better off from involvement in a responsible crowdfunding engagement. Furthermore, the chapter highlights the process dimension of crowdfunding, as represented through a series of three main stages, which are further specified into a seven sub-stage model. Each stage in the process depends on successful completion of the stage preceding it and …
Latvijas jaunuzņēmumu panākumu faktori veidojot augstas izaugsmes tehnoloģiju jaunuzņēmumu
2022
Impact of key users’ motivation on enterprise resource planning (erp) implemenentation project success
2016
2021
This Article analyses the effects of succession of States in respect of international treaties on human rights. This is a matter not codified by the Vienna Convention on Succession of States in respect of Treaties. We have to bear in mind that human rights treaties have been adopted by international organisations, which have developed their own practice both for the succession of States as States Members of an international organisation and for the succession of States as Contracting Parties to treaties that the United Nations, the Council of Europe or the European Union have adopted in the field of human rights.
Latvijas 1937. gada Civillikuma tulkojumā lietoto terminoloģisko ekvivalentu analīze (mantojuma tiesības)
2019
Mate Choice for Genetic Benefits: Time to Put the Pieces Together
2010
It is thought that mate choice allows individuals to obtain genetic benefits for their offspring, and although many studies have found some support for this hypothesis, several critical questions remain unresolved. One main problem is that empirical studies on mate choice and genetic benefits have been rather piecemeal. Some studies (1) aimed to test how mate choice affects offspring fitness, but have not examined whether the benefits are because of genetic effects. Other studies tested whether mate choice provides (2) additive or (3) non-additive genetic benefits and only a few studies (4) considered these genetic effects together. Finally, some studies (5) examined whether the potential b…

Effects of vegetation at different succession stages on soil properties and water flow in sandy soil
2015
The effects of vegetation at different succession stages on soil properties and water flow were assessed in sandy soil at 3 experimental sites near Sekule village (southwest Slovakia). Site S1 was a pioneer site dominated by mosses, site S2 was an early successional stage with a thin stand of grasses, and site S3 was an early successional stage (more advanced compared to the previous), richer in species, with a denser stand of grasses. It was found that vegetation at different succession stages affected soil properties and water flow in sandy soil, but the order of changes in some soil properties and water penetration depths were different from the order of succession stages.
