Influence of clinical and psychological variables upon the oral health-related quality of life in patients with temporomandibular disorders

Background To analyze the association between the OHIP-14 and the different subtypes making up the clinical and psychological axis obtained using the RDC/TMD. Material and Methods 407 patients treated at the TMD unit of the Andalusian Healthcare Service were administered the Spanish version of the Research Diagnostic Criteria for Temporomandibular Disorders questionnaire (RDC/TMD), together with the Oral Health Impact Profile questionnaire (OHIP-14). : Influence of tenth graders' personal school experiences on their achievement and curriculum choices

This study shows that various dimensions of students' school experiences (namely academic self-evaluation and their attitude towards certain subjects) have a significant influence on their academic achievement (French and Mathematics), as well as on their curriculum choices. The results should encourage teachers and counsellors to take into account students' personal biases when helping them to either construct academic projects or to avoid academic failure.

This study examined the effects of social comparison among students in their final year of study. Participants were presented with a fictitious interview with a new graduate who was either successful or unsuccessful in the job market. Exposure to the successful target led to a higher degree of inspiration, identification, and proactive career behavior than did exposure to the unsuccessful target. The higher participants were in social comparison orientation (dispositional tendency to compare oneself with others), the more they identified with the targets and the more proactive career behavior they showed.
