The use of complementary therapies for chronic pain in Italian hospices.

Hidden oscillations in SPICE simulation of two-phase Costas loop with non-linear VCO

Simulation is widely used for analysis of Costas loop based circuits. However it may be a non-trivial task, because incorrect choice of integration parameters may lead to qualitatively wrong conclusions. In this work the importance of choosing appropriate parameters and simulation model is discussed. It is shown that hidden oscillations may not be found by simulation in SPICE, however it can be predicted by analytical methods. peerReviewed

The elemental composition of seasoning products, like spices garlic and onion, has been reviewed paying special attention to methods proposed in the literature to determine specific elements or as much as possible components of these products which are widespread used in food preservation or food flavouring and can contribute to the intake of both, essential and toxic elements. Optimum design of two-level MCML gates

In this paper, we address the problem of the optimum design of two-level MOS Current Mode Logic (MCML) gates. In particular, we describe a design methodology based on the concept of crossing-point current already introduced for the optimum design of single-level MCML gates. This methodology is suited both for automated implementation and graphic estimate of the optimum design. Moreover, it clearly shows how some important design parameters affect the optimum values of delay and power consumption. Several gates were designed in an IBM 130 nm CMOS technology. The results of SPICE simulations, reported here, demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed design methodology.

A circuit model of a 5kW fuel cell

In the last few years, industrial research has been focused on renewable energy sources. Owing to combined heat-power generation option, fuel cells have attracted much interest for a wide variety of research areas. Household appliances are still the most promising applications. Fuel cell modeling is still a critical topic to focus on, affecting each stage of power system design. This paper describes an empirical method to model a proton exchange membrane fuel cell. Modeling Networks of Probabilistic Memristors in SPICE

Efficient simulation of stochastic memristors and their networks requires novel modeling approaches. Utilizing a master equation to find occupation probabilities of network states is a recent major departure from typical memristor modeling [Chaos, solitons fractals 142, 110385 (2021)]. In the present article we show how to implement such master equations in SPICE – a general purpose circuit simulation program. In the case studies we simulate the dynamics of acdriven probabilistic binary and multi-state memristors, and dc-driven networks of probabilistic binary and multi-state memristors. Caregiver Distress in Home Palliative Care

Aim: This study aims to determine the symptom burden of caregivers who were following their loved ones at home and factors associated with this burden. Methods: From a consecutive number of patients followed at home by a specialistic palliative care team, a sample of 46 couples of patients-caregivers was screened. Epidemiological data of both patients and caregivers were collected, also including some variables, such as the level of religiousness, education, economic conditions, and financial distress.
