Predicting Cryptocurrency Defaults

We examine all available 146 Proof-of-Work based cryptocurrencies that started trading prior to the end of 2014 and track their performance until December 2018. We find that about 60% of those cryptocurrencies were eventually in default. The substantial sums of money involved mean those bankruptcies will have an enormous societal impact. Employing cryptocurrency-specific data, we estimate a model based on linear discriminant analysis to predict such defaults. Speculation and Lottery-Like Demand in Cryptocurrency Markets

This is the first paper that explores lottery-like demand in cryptocurrency markets. Since recent research provides evidence that cryptocurrency returns are rather short-memory processes in their nature, we modify Bali et al.’s (2011, 2017) MAX measure and employ a weekly forecast horizon and last week’s daily log-returns for calculating the metric for our portfolio sorts. From an econometric point of view, this study proposes statistical tests that are robust to unknown dynamic dependency structures in the cryptocurrency data. Metformīns ir viens no visplašāk izmantotajiem medikamentiem 2.tipa cukura diabēta (T2D) ārstēšanā. Papildus glikozes izdales samazināšanai aknās un glikozes uzņemšanas palielināšanai muskuļos, arvien vairāk pierādījumu liecina, ka zarnu mikrobioms ir metformīna galvenā darbības vieta. Jaunākie pētījumi liecina, ka metformīns būtiski maina zarnu mikrobiomu T2D pacientiem. Sekretorajam IgA ir svarīga loma zarnu, elpceļu un uroģenitālās gļotādas epitēlija aizsardzībā un homeostatiskā regulēšanā, kā arī mijiedarbībā ar mikrobiomu. Nemastoma bidentatum (Arachnida: Opiliones: Nemastomatidae): first records for Germany and the Czech Republic. N. bidentatum Roewer, 1914 was found at two places in Germany: first on the island "Harriersand" in the Weser river (Lower Saxony), second on the banks of the river Elbe in the Elbsandsteingebirge (Saxony). Adjacent to the latter locality an occurrence in the Czech Republic could be located close to the German/Czech border in the floodplain of the river Elbe as well. These records are the first for Germany and the Czech Republic. They enlarge the distribution area of N. bidentatum remarkably in both a northern and a western direction. Drugs available in the market today, selected several years ago under very uncertain future scenario, have experienced a long and expensive process of research and development carried out following both a closed and an open innovation path. To support this critical selection process, we propose a Decision Support System, able to choose among different candidates the most promising drugs along their best development path. The Decision Support System, based on a real options portfolio optimization model, mapping tools, and what-if rules as well, has been applied to a numerical example available in literature, and the research findings show interesting managerial and academic implications
