Über eine Reaktion vono-Hydroxybenzylalkoholen mit Estern von Säuren des Phosphors mit der Koordinationszahl 3
1978
Abstract o-Hydroxybenzyl alcohol reacts with trimethyl phosphite under smooth conditions to o-hydroxyphenylmethane phosphonic acid dimethyl ester. This unusual reaction is of widest applicability. Derivatives of o-hydroxybenzyl alcohol independent of type, number or position of substituents in the ring, react with alkyl esters of phosphorous, phosphonous or phosphinous acids in an analogous process, forming the corresponding o-hydroxyphenylmethane phosphonic or phosphinic esters or phosphine oxides.
ChemInform Abstract: Synthesis of Fluorinated Allylic Amines: Reaction of 2-(Trimethylsilyl)ethyl Sulfones and Sulfoxides with Fluorinated Imines.
2008
A new synthesis of fluorinated allylamines through the reaction of 2-(trimethylsilyl)ethyl sulfones and sulfoxides (as vinyl anion equivalents) with imines and imino esters has been described. The process includes a TBAF-mediated fragmentation of 2-(trimethylsilyl)ethyl sulfones to afford the desired allylic amines. When the reaction is performed with the corresponding sulfoxides, the fragmentation takes place under the addition conditions, affording the final products in a single step.

The decomposition reactions of the lithiated dimer, trimer, and tetramer of methyl methacrylate (MMA) in THF at 25°C were investigated. The decomposition of the lithiated dimer proceeds via depolymerization to lithiated monomer and MMA, addition of MMA to residual lithiated dimer, resulting the trimer (“disproportionation” of the dimer), and subsequent autocondensation of the products. The lithiated trimer almost exclusively undergoes cyclo-autocondensation, whereas for the lithiated tetramer both reactions proceed simultaneously to a remarkable degree. It is shown that the relative rate of autocondensation, which is highly dependent on the degree of polymerization of the oligomer, controls…
Stereoselective synthesis of glycosides and anomeric azides of glucosamine
1992
The β-azide of O-acetyl protected N-acetyl glucosamine is efficiently accessible via a phasetransfer-catalyzed reaction of the corresponding glycosyl chloride with sodium azide. The azido group revealed to be a useful anomeric protection for modifications of the protecting group pattern of the glucosamine unit. Exchange of the O-acyl groups by 4-methoxybenzylidene and 4-methoxybenzyl (Mpm) protection delivered regioselectively blocked glucosaminyl azide derivatives. In contrast, the N-phthaloyl protected glucosaminyl azide was obtained quantitatively from the corresponding glycosyl fluoride via a boron trifluoride-promoted reaction with trimethylsilyl azide. N-Phthaloyl glucosaminyl fluorid…

ChemInform Abstract: Synthesis of 3-Substituted Isoindolin-1-ones via a Tandem Desilylation, Cross-Coupling, Hydroamidation Sequence under Aqueous Ph…
2016
A simple and expedient method for the synthesis of 3-methylene-isoindolin-1-ones 4 under aqueous phase-transfer conditions has been developed. Starting from 2-iodobenzamides 1 and (silyl)alkynes, the products are obtained in high yields and short reaction times (30 min) with the use of inexpensive CuCl/PPh3 catalyst system in the presence of n-Bu4NBr (TBAB) as a phase-transfer agent. Terminal alkynes are conveniently “unmasked” upon in situ desilylation under the reaction conditions. Alkynes possessing heterocyclic moieties were also found as amenable substrates. Furthermore, a one-pot process starting from 2-iodobenzamides 1, aryl halides (bromides or iodides) and trimethylsilylacetylene (…
Scandium-catalyzed preparation of cytotoxic 3-functionalized quinolin-2-ones: Regioselective ring enlargement of isatins or imino isatins
2012
Trimethylsilyldiazomethane in the presence of catalytic amounts of Sc(OTf) 3 smoothly promotes the ring expansion of isatins or imino isatins to efficiently afford 3-functionalized quinolin-2-ones through controlled ring enlargement. Whereas the ring-expansion reaction of azetidine-2,3-diones led to the adduct resulting from migration of the carbonyl group, the ring-expansion reaction of oxindole derivatives gave the adduct resulting from migration of the aryl group. To rationalize the experimental observations, theoretical studies have been performed. Moreover, the biological activity of some of the synthesized heterocycles has been evaluated in four cancer cell lines. © 2012 Wiley-VCH Ver…
ChemInform Abstract: Preparation and Nonlinear Optics of Monodisperse Oligo(1,4-phenyleneethynylene)s.
2010
Oligo(1,4-phenyleneethynylene)s 1a−e, with solubilizing propoxy side chains, were prepared by use of Hagihara−Sonogashira coupling reactions. The synthetic strategy was based on a building block system and on the use of trimethylsilyl and triisopropylsilyl protecting groups that could be cleaved selectively. The extension of the conjugation with an increasing number of repeat units provokes a bathochromic shift of the long wavelength absorption and a superlinear increase of the second hyperpolarizability |γ|. The corresponding third harmonic generation (THG) measurements were performed using polystyrene matrices and variable laser wavelengths. We conclude that the conjugation length is much…
ChemInform Abstract: Efficient Synthesis of Quaternary and P-Stereogenic Phosphonium Triflates.
2010
An efficient and general method for the preparation of achiral and chiral phosphonium salts is reported. This synthesis is based on the quaternization of phosphines and their derivatives with arynes generated in situ from 2-(trimethylsilyl)aryl triflates. This methodology is successfully applied to the synthesis of new valuable P-stereogenic phosphonium triflates.

The fluorescence quantum yields F(n) of oligo[2,5-bis(propyloxy)-1,4-phenylenevinylene]s (1b) reach for the trimer (n = 3) in solution a maximum of 86 %, which is almost twice as high as for the monomer (n = 1) and the octamer or undecamer (n = 8, 11). The latter represent the convergence limit of 46 %. 4-Mono-, 3,4-di- or 3,4,5-trisubstituted terminal phenyl rings in the trimers 6a–f do not lead to calamitic or phasmidic liquid crystals; however, 2,3,4-trisubstitution with hexyloxy groups (6h) and even with OCH3 groups (6g) effects LC formation. Irradiation with energy-rich UV light provokes a crosslinking of the originally conjugated chains. In the case of 6c, a chemo- and stereoselective…
