Abstract Adult students with experiences of teaching have often certain views about good teaching and a teacher. One of the most important roles in teacher education is to support future teachers to develop their pedagogical thinking systematically. Teacher's pedagogical thinking comes up in her/his actions and reflections on the teaching and learning situations. This article is based on research project which aims at to find out pre-service teachers’ progress in pedagogical thinking during three different practicums in Adult Teacher Education Program. The article will describe this thinking process during the first practicum which is carried out after three months studying.

Abstract Pre-service physics teacher education is key in preparing prospective physics teachers to effectively support student learning and interest development alike. In order to do this, pre-service teachers must acquire, among other things, a profound teaching-oriented content knowledge and positive stance regarding teaching and motivation towards teaching. However, there are many more issues related to pre-service physics teacher education. In this paper, we report about some questions raised and answers proposed about this subject during the GIREP Malta 2020 Webinar Work Group 5 discussions.
Expressing Professional Identity through Blogging - A Case Study of Blogging in the Study of the Subject of Norwegian in Pre-School Teacher Education

Abstract This article shows how blogging was used in a course in Norwegian in pre-school teacher education, and investigates how professional identity was expressed in the blogs. We investigate the students’ use of the affordances of the blog medium, and connect their expressions to the five competencies of pre-school teachers expressed in the Norwegian framework plan for this education (subject, didactic, social, developmental and ethical competence). Connections between professional identity, subject content and uses of ICT are thus drawn up.
How pre-service teachers perceive their 21st-century skills and dispositions : A longitudinal perspective

Research-based discussions about 21st-century skills are currently needed; 21st-century skills refer to skills that today's students are expected to possess for successful future careers. The ways students perceive these skills or what kind of dispositions they have in this regard are significant. This paper provides an overview of the development of pre-service teachers' perceived 21st-century skills and dispositions. The purpose of this qualitative study was to explore in-service teachers’ first experiences with imaginary dialogues – a form of mathematical writing where students are introduced to a written and unfinished dialogue between two imaginary persons discussing a mathematical problem. Students are supposed to continue working with the problem and to complete the initial dialogue between these persons. Inquiry-based science education in primary school in Spain : teachers’ practices

Teaching science by inquiry allows students to develop scientific skills, which is key during primary school, and enhances learning. In this study we present the results of a survey to 63 primary school teachers in Spain about their practices in science class and their knowledge about inquiry-based science education (IBSE). Our results show that concept-based paradigm of science is predominant. Scientific skills, besides observation, are not developed, and the concept of research is restricted to bibliographic search. Teachers believe that IBSE is feasible in the Spanish educative system, although they identify the length of the curriculum and the lack of time are the main obstacles.
