How do different types of intragroup conflict affect group potency in virtual compared with face-to-face teams? A longitudinal study †
2008
The number of organizations using teamwork is increasing. In this context, group potency has emerged as a key construct in group research. Moreover, in the last decades, information and communication technologies (ICT) have allowed organizations to form virtual teams. Consequently, a considerable amount of research has analysed the functioning of virtual teams. We focus on intragroup conflict as a relevant antecedent of potency in computer-mediated communication groups. Specifically, the aim of this research is to examine the role of ICT in the relationship between intragroup conflict and group potency in a longitudinal study. A laboratory experiment was carried out comparing 44 groups work…
Ways of interprofessional collaboration and learning in emergency work
2012
In the paper we aim to identify various ways of interprofessional collaboration and learning in an emergency unit at a hospital in Finland. According to previous studies, health care work faces various constraints which also challenge interprofessional interaction and learning. We ask what kinds of learning situations and challenges are manifested in moments of interprofessional practice. Ethnography was applied as a methodological approach. Empirical data were collected with the help of observations, audio taping, individual and focus group interviews, and suitable qualitative methods were utilised in the analysis. It was found that multi- and interprofessional collaboration and learning w…

The project, carried out from 2010–2012, investigated different forms of, prerequisites for, and barriers to, collaboration, and the aim was to develop the work together with staff at the unit. An ethnographically informed research strategy was utilised, with observations and interviews as the main data collection methods. On the whole, collaboration in the emergency unit was found to function rather well; i.e. pa…

Implementation of TICs for the Virtual Learning of Literary Subjects: From Aula Virtual to OCW and Universia
2016
Within the current European Convergence Process and the development of the new University degrees, a compromise has been reached to adapt the English Studies (before English Philology) curricula to the current needs of students in a highly competitive society. The final goal is to transform our education system into one of learning. This actually implies that the student must engage himself more closely with the university and that he may lead his coursework in a more autonomous way, backed up by more active educational strategies, such as the personalised tutoring guide, the use of the new technologies, and the team work.

Team communication in the workplace
2019
In today’s organizations, team and group communication is an essential part of work, and it is loaded with expectations. Despite the expectation that teamwork offers an answer to the intense demands of today’s dynamic, ubiquitously digital working life, taking advantage of its benefits is neither simple nor well understood. Teams represent various types of collaboration. Teams can be understood by observing their structures, practices, and processes as well as their functionality and goal achievement. This chapter provides an understanding of the multifaceted reality of groups and teams as it manifests in interaction. The chapter analyzes a variety of team phenomena in order to enhance and …
Desarrollo de prácticas en el laboratorio químico en formato híbrido apoyadas en el trabajo en equipo y vídeos instructivos

[EN] This work presents the adaptation of a course mainly based on practice sessions in the chemical laboratory into a blended learning format after the irruption of the COVID-19 pandemic. The study was conducted during the course Experimentation in Chemical Engineering II of the third academic year of the B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering of the Polytechnic University of València. The development of experimental courses under the context of the pandemic takes place under strict room occupancy and hygiene rules, although teamwork and interaction between students tends to be more important than in theory classes. To make feasible that students gain experience in the use of equipment and pilot pl…
