Calcium dicaesium silver thiocyanate dihydrate.

2001

The title compound, CaCs2[Ag2(SCN)6]·2H2O, forms a continuous structure where the Ag atoms form chains with S atoms in the c-axis direction. The chains are bonded together through Cs and Ca atoms. The crystal water of the structure is bonded to the Ca atoms, which lie on centers of symmetry.

1D ferrimagnetism in homometallic chains

1990

The magnetic properties of the cobalt zigzag chain Co(bpy)(NCS)2 (bpy=2,2′‐bipyridine) are discussed on the basis of an Ising‐chain model that takes into account alternating Landé factors. It is emphasized, for the first time, that a homometallic chain containing only one type of site can give rise to a 1D ferrimagneticlike behavior. Juan.J.Borras@uv.es , Eugenio.Coronado@uv.es

2002

Previously unpublished powder X-ray diffraction data for potassium silver thiocyanate, AgK(SCN)2 and dipotassium silver thiocyanate, AgK2(SCN)3 are presented. F30 values for AgK(SCN)2 and AgK2(SCN)3 are 80(0.0075, 50) and 53(0.0089, 63), respectively. The Rietveld refinement of the patterns is also performed. For AgK(SCN)2Rp=6.98, Rwp=11.84, and RBragg=2.9. For AgK2(SCN)3Rp=7.22, Rwp=10.79, and RBragg=5.0.

Copper-Assisted Hemiacetal Synthesis: A Cu II Chain Obtained by a One-Step in situ Reaction of Picolinaldehyde

2014

International audience; The 1D polymer complex [Cu2(L)2(SCN)2]n (1 ) has been synthesised in a one‐step in situ reaction of picolinaldehyde with sodium thiocyanate. The complex 1 was characterised by FTIR spectroscopy, UV/Vis spectrophotometry and elemental analysis. The crystal structure of complex 1 shows that chains of dimer complexes are formed with tetra‐ and pentacoordinate copper centres alternately linked by one thiocyanato and two alkoxido bridges. Variable‐temperature magnetic measurements showed a strong antiferromagnetic interaction between the copper centres within the dimer mediated by the two alkoxido bridges with a J value of –374 cm–1, which is in agreement with the DFT‐cal…

Synthesis, spectroscopic, cyclic voltammetry properties and molecular structure of the thiocyanato-N meso-tetratolylporphyrinato zinc(II) ion complex

2017

International audience; This paper describes the synthesis of the (thiocyanato-N)(meso-tetratolylporphyrinato)zinc(II) chlorobenzene monosolvate complex with the formula [K(2,2,2-crypt)][Zn(TTP)(NCS)]·C6H5Cl (I) using the cryptand-222 to solubilize potassium thiocyanate in chlorobenzene solvent. Complex (I) has been characterized by elementary analysis, IR, UV–vis, 1H NMR and MS, and the structure of this new zinc(II) metalloporphyrin been examined crystallographically. A cyclic voltammetry investigation was also carried out on this species. The title compound crystallizes in the triclinic, space group P-1, with a = 11.5151(7) Å, b = 15.212(10) Å, c = 20.1093(12) Å, α = 80.428(4)°, β = 74.9…

Lovastatin protects human endothelial cells from the genotoxic and cytotoxic effects of the anticancer drugs doxorubicin and etoposide

2006

Background and purpose: 3-Hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-coenzyme A (HMG-CoA) reductase inhibitors (statins) are frequently used lipid-lowering drugs. Moreover, they exert pleiotropic effects on cellular stress responses and death. Here, we analysed whether lovastatin affects the sensitivity of primary human endothelial cells (HUVEC) to the anticancer drug doxorubicin. Experimental approach: We investigated whether pretreatment of HUVEC with low dose of lovastatin influences the cellular sensitivity to doxorubicin. To this end, cell viability, proliferation and apoptosis as well as DNA damage-triggered stress response were analysed. Key results: Lovastatin reduced the cytotoxic potency of doxorub…

Organometallic complexes with biological molecules II. Synthesis, solid-state characterization andin vivo Cytotoxicity of Diorganotin(IV)chloro and T…

1994

Several new diorganotin(IV)chloro and triorganotin(IV)chloro penicillin G derivatives have been prepared. The isolated compounds showed 1:1 stoichiometry, with formulae R2SnClpenG and R3SnClpenGNa, respectively (penG− = penicillin G− = 4- thia - 1 - azabicyclo[3.2.0]heptane-2-carboxylate, 3,3-dimethyl-7-oxo-6-(2-phenylacet-amido) anion; R = Me, Bu, Ph). The coordination environment around the the tin(IV) atom, in all of the complexes, was trigonal bipyramidal. Penicillin G behaved as a monoanionic, bismonodentate ligand in R2SnClpenG through the β-lactamic carbonyl and unidentate ester-type carboxylate anion, and as unidentate through the β-lactamic carbonyl in R3SnClpenGNa, as inferred on …

New family of thiocyanate-bridged Re(IV)-SCN-M(II) (M = Ni, Co, Fe, and Mn) heterobimetallic compounds: synthesis, crystal structure, and magnetic pr…

2012

The heterobimetallic complexes of formula [(Me(2)phen)(2)M(μ-NCS)Re(NCS)(5)]·CH(3)CN [Me(2)phen = 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline and M = Ni (1), Co (2), Fe (3), and Mn (4)] have been prepared, and their crystal structures have been determined by X-ray diffraction on single crystals. Compounds 1-4 crystallize in the monoclinic C2/c space group, and their structure consists of neutral [(Me(2)phen)(2)M(μ-NCS)Re(NCS)(5)] heterodinuclear units with a Re-SCN-M bridge. Each Re(IV) ion in this series is six-coordinated with one sulfur and five nitrogen atoms from six thiocyanate groups building a somewhat distorted octahedral environment, whereas the M(II) metal ions are five-coordinated with fou…

Separation of plasma membrane proteins of cultured human fibroblasts by affinity chromatography on bonded microparticulate silicas.

1984

Abstract Adsorbents for high-performance affinity chromatography were prepared by bonding proteins and reactive Procion triazine dyes to 3-isothiocyanatopropyl- and 3-aminopropylsilicas. The materials prepared were used successfully in the separation of hydrophobic plasma membrane proteins of cultured human fibroblasts. The data obtained show that the reaction of 3-isothiocyanatopropyltriethoxysilane (ITCPS) with the surface hydroxyl groups of silica yields a new and convenient route to preparing an “activated carrier” that is capable of coupling with potential affinity ligands containing amino functional groups. The reaction and bonding procedures of 3-isothiocyanatopropyltriethoxysilane a…

Science and Healthy Meals in the World: Nutritional Epigenomics and Nutrigenetics of the Mediterranean Diet

2020

The Mediterranean Diet (MD), UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, has become a scientific topic of high interest due to its health benefits. The aim of this review is to pick up selected studies that report nutrigenomic or nutrigenetic data and recapitulate some of the biochemical/genomic/genetic aspects involved in the positive health effects of the MD. These include (i) the antioxidative potential of its constituents with protective effects against several diseases; (ii) the epigenetic and epigenomic effects exerted by food components, such as Indacaxanthin, Sulforaphane, and 3-Hydroxytyrosol among others, and their involvement in the modulation of miRNA expression; (iii) the …
