According to the All or None Hypothesis (Diamond, 2009), the cognitive system can operate in a global manner that is not very discriminate or in a more discriminate mode that demands greater precision, control, and cognitive effort. The present work describes the synthesis and crystal structure of the new B-phenyloxazaborocine, C26H23BN2O2. The title compound adopts a zwitterionic form with a significant intramolecular N→B dative bond and intermolecular C—H⋯O interactions connecting molecules parallel to the b axis.

Two out of the three very similar complexes described present twofold symmetry but not the third one, probably by way of a strong intramolecular C—H⋯O hydrogen bond disrupting the symmetry, a fact which is analysed in detail.

Tässä työssä tutkittiin Yhdysvaltain Japanin suurlähetystön raportointia Yhdysvaltain ulkoministeriöön vuosina 1932–41, jolloin suurlähettiläänä toimi Joseph C. Grew. Päälähteenä tutkimuksessa olivat Wisconsin-Madisonin ja Illinoisin kirjastojen verkkosivuilta löytyvät suurlähetystöraportit ja vertailevana aineistona käytettiin joitakin artikkeleita The New York Timesista, sekä Foreign Affairs-lehdestä.
