Audit Institutions in the European Union: Public Service Promotion, Environmental Engagement and COVID Crisis Communication through Social Media

This article analyses Social Media (SM) use as a promotion tool for public institutions in the public audit sector. The authors propose a quantitative model to assess online engagement of 94 European audit institutions (national and regional) with their stakeholders, based on SM and web activity metrics of these institutions, with a focus on pressing matters such as environment, sustainability and the current COVID pandemic. Tässä tutkielmassa selvitetään sitä, miten Euroopan unioni määritellään Helsingin Sanomien uutisissa ja miten lehden uutiset rakentavat eurooppalaista solidaarisuutta. Tarkastelun kohteena ovat toukokuussa 2014 pidetyt EU-parlamenttivaalit ja aineisto on kerätty aikaväliltä 1.4.- 30.6.2014. Metodina tässä tutkielmassa on käytetty sisällön erittelyä. Aineistoa on luokiteltu EU:n määritelmien, puhujien, toimijoiden, teemojen, näkökulmien, identiteettien, suhtautumisen sekä arvojen perusteella. The aim of this study was to investigate the attitudes of trade union representatives toward companies’ CSR practices. The research participants were representatives of altogether nine Finnish trade unions and one Finnish solidarity centre representing the trade unions. The data had been collected as part of a bigger research project concerning trade unions and CSR but this study is an independent research using the same data. Altogether 206 pages of transcribed data gathered through interviews were analysed.
