Supercapacitors are devices for applications requiring high operating power levels, such as secondary power sources in electric vehicles (EVs) to provide peak power for acceleration and hill climbing. While electronically conducting polymers yield different redox supercapacitor configurations, devices with the n-doped polymer as the negative electrode and the p-doped polymer as the positive one are the most promising for EV applications. Investigation on lithium/polymer electrolyte interface for high performance lithium rechargeable batteries

Abstract Performance data of several linear and cross-linked polymer electrolytes are reported and the electrochemical criteria for the selection of electrolytes to be used in electric vehicle lithium metal batteries are discussed. Further, laboratory lithium cells with LiMn2O4 composite cathode were tested to ascertain the effective viability of these polymer in solid-state batteries and preliminary results are reported. This study clearly demonstrates the importance of a broad-based electrochemical characterization in selecting an electrolyte for lithium metal batteries.

International audience; In this paper, we present a protocol to collect data within a vehicular ad hoc network (VANET). In spite of the intrinsic dynamic of such network, our protocol simultaneously offers three relevant properties: (1) It allows any vehicle to collect data beyond its direct neighborhood (i.e., vehicles within direct communication range) using vehicle-to-vehicle communications only (i.e., the infrastructure is not required); (2) It tolerates possible network partitions; (3) It works on demand and stops when the data collection is achieved. Megabenthos Underwater Video (MUV): a new device to evaluate species distribution in hard-to-reach marine areas

A device, called Megabenthos Underwater Video (MUV), was designed and built for the counting and the size estimate of benthic organisms in hard-to-reach areas. Since 2014 Cassiopea andromeda, an invasive alien jellyfish in the Mediterranean Sea with benthic behavior, colonized a recreational harbor (Cala) of Palermo with a stable population. This paper presents a hybrid evolution strategy (ES) for solving the open vehicle routing problem (OVRP), which is a well-known combinatorial optimization problem that addresses the service of a set of customers using a homogeneous fleet of non-depot returning capacitated vehicles. The objective is to minimize the fleet size and the distance traveled.
