Electrochemical oxidation of substituted pyrroles.III.Anodic oxidation of 2,5-diphenyl-3-acetylpyrrole

1991

The electrochemical oxidation of 2,5-diphenyl-3-acetylpyrrole (I) is described. The cyclic derivative 1,6a-dihydro-2,5,6a-triphenyl-3,4-diacetylbenzo[g]pyrrolo[3,2-e]indole (II) was obtained in very good yield. However, when water was present in the reaction medium, a different derivative, 4-acetyl-2-hydroxy-2,5-diphenyl-3-(4′-acetyl-2′,5′-diphenyl-3′-yl)-2H-pyrrole (III), was obtained as the main product. 2,2′,5,5′-Tetraphenyl-4,4′-diacetyl-3,3′-dipyrryl (IV), a potentially useful intermediate for the synthesis of condensed pyrroles, was synthesized by zinc reduction of III.

On the design of a high current power supply for superconducting magnet

2002

The purpose of the article is the description, considerations of design and presentation of experimental results of a high current (1000 A) and low voltage (up to 15 V) converter for the excitement of superconducting corrector magnets in particle accelerators. The power source, which is based on a ZVT converter, presents high efficiency, small output ripple, excellent regulation of line, and fulfilment of the EMC normative (VDE 0871 A).

Power loss analysis for single phase grid-connected PV inverters

2009

This paper presents a method for power loss analysis applied on single-phase grid-connected PV inverter. The often neglected current ripple effects are included in power device switching and conduction losses. The relationships amongst component losses, output inductance, switching frequency and dc-link voltage are investigated. It is shown that current ripple effect is important to power loss analysis due to varying irradiation. The closed form solutions of component losses are proposed and verified with SPICE simulation results.

Electrochemistry of Carbon Dioxide on Carbon Electrodes.

2016

Carbon electrodes have the advantages of being chemically inert at negative potential ranges in all media and high offset potentials for hydrogen evolution in comparison to metal electrodes, and therefore are the most suitable electrodes for electrochemistry and electrochemical conversion of CO2 into valuable chemicals. Herein we summarize on carbon electrodes the voltammetry, electrochemical and electrocatalytic CO2 reduction, as well as electron synthesis using CO2 and carbon electrodes. The electrocatalytic CO2 reduction using carbocatalyts and the future activities about electrochemical CO2 conversion are highlighted.

Enhanced light scattering in Si nanostructures produced by pulsed laser irradiation

2013

An innovative method for Si nanostructures (NS) fabrication is proposed, through nanosecond laser irradiation (lambda = 532 nm) of thin Si film (120 nm) on quartz. Varying the laser energy fluences (425-1130 mJ/cm(2)) distinct morphologies of Si NS appear, going from interconnected structures to isolated clusters. Film breaking occurs through a laser-induced dewetting process. Raman scattering is enhanced in all the obtained Si NS, with the largest enhancement in interconnected Si structures, pointing out an increased trapping of light due to multiple scattering. The reported method is fast, scalable and cheap, and can be applied for light management in photovoltaics. (C) 2013 AIP Publishin…

Vapor phase epitaxy of Hg1−xCdxI2 on sapphire

1998

Abstract We demonstrate the possibility of growing Hg 1− x Cd x I 2 layers on sapphire substrates by vapor-phase epitaxy (VPE). The successful growth has been carried out using an α-HgI 2 polycrystalline source and a CdTe buffer layer grown on sapphire by metalorganic vapor phase epitaxy (MOVPE) before the Hg 1− x Cd x I 2 VPE growth. The Hg 1− x Cd x I 2 /sapphire 20–40 μm thick layers with a uniform composition in the range of x =0.2–0.6 were grown at 220–250°C for 70–300 h. The layers were studied by scanning electron microscopy, energy disperse X-ray analysis and X-ray diffractometry. Results on the layer characterization are reported and the effect of VPE conditions on the layer proper…

Influence of twinned structure on the morphology of CdTe(111) layers grown by MOCVD on GaAs(100) substrates

2003

Abstract The morphology and structure of CdTe(1 1 1) layers grown on GaAs(1 0 0) by MOCVD have been studied by atomic force microscopy (AFM) and X-ray texture analysis. Growth conditions have been chosen so that mirror-like CdTe layers are obtained. Layers whose growth times vary between 10 s and 2 h have been investigated. The X-ray texture analysis shows that the CdTe layers grown on GaAs substrates that were thermally treated at 580°C for 30 min in a H 2 atmosphere exhibit a (1 1 1) preferential orientation and are twinned. This twinned structure of the (1 1 1)CdTe layer which is observed as 60° rotated triangular crystallites in the AFM images strongly influences the surface morphology.…

A Trinuclear Aqua Cyano‐Bridged Ruthenium Complex [{(η 5 ‐C 5 H 5 )(PPh 3 ) 2 Ru(μ‐CN)} 2 RuCl 2 (PPh 3 )(H 2 O)]PF 6 : Synthesis, Characterization a…

2007

The organometallic trinuclear aqua cyano-bridged complex [{(η5-C5H5)(PPh3)2Ru(μ-CN)}2RuCl2(PPh3)(H2O)]PF6 (1), in which the fragment [RuCl2(PPh3)(H2O)] acts as a bridge and an acceptor group between the two terminal cyclopentadienyl ruthenium cyano moieties, was isolated in moderate yield from the reaction of [(η5-C5H5)(PPh3)2RuCN] with [RuCl2(PPh3)3] in THF. To the best of our knowledge, compound 1 is one of the few examples of a trinuclear array of ruthenium fragments bridged by the nitrogen atom of the–C≡N– group (Ru–C≡N–Ru′–N≡C–Ru) with a Ru-coordinated water molecule. The new aqua complex was structurally characterized by FTIR, 1H, 13C, and 31P NMR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, elem…

Synthesis and Characterization of New Keggin-Based Structure Tungstocobaltates: K9[Co3+W11O39] and its Vanadium Derivatives, K8[Co2+W11V4+O40], K7[Co…

1995

Abstract Good yield synthesis of the potassium salts of four new interrelated : olyoxometalates, [Co3+W11O39]9-(I), [Co2+W11V4+O4]8-(II), [Co2+W11V5+O40]7-(III), and [Co3+W11V5+O40]6-(IV), are reported. The title compounds have been characterized by IR and UV-Vis.-NIR spectroscopies, cyclic voltammetry and magnetic measurements. IR spectra confirm that I has the lacunary structure of an undecatungstate anion, while II through IV have a substituted α-Keggin structure with the vanadium atom located at an octahedral site replacing one tungsten atom. Optical data confirm the oxidation states for both, the Co and V atoms, as formulated for I through IV.

Structural characterization of CdTe layers grown on (0001) sapphire by MOCVD

2004

Abstract We report on the growth of CdTe layers directly onto (0 0 0 1) sapphire substrates by MOCVD. The structure and morphology of the layers have been investigated as a function of growth temperature and II/VI precursor molar ratio by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. The texture of the samples has revealed the existence of a temperature threshold, with higher growth temperatures resulting on completely (1 1 1) oriented layers. Some of these layers contained microtwins, as indicated by the extra peaks in the {4 2 2} Φ scans, leading to the existence of two different domains. The structural quality of each domain, as well as of the sample as a whole, has been determined…
