Giuseppe e i suoi fratelli: la ritraduzione come forma di competizione
2023
The article reconstructs the history of the Italian retranslation of Thomas Mann’s "Joseph und seine Brüder". Although Mondadori already published the work (four volumes from 1933 to 1948), shortly after the death of the first translator, the retranslation of the entire tetralogy was commissioned. Based on the letters between the publisher, the author and the new translator, the paper tries to shed light on an unusual case of retranslation, where the rules that generally determine its necessity do not seem to be applicable.
Die Zäsur von 1938: Das Italienische Verlagswesen und die deutsche Literatur in den letzten Jahren des Fascismo
2022
The history of Italian publishing industry in the last years of Fascism reveals different strategies, that outline a non-heterogeneous panorama of the positions taken by publishers towards the regime's cultural policy. Alongside the publishers, like Corticelli, Salani and Guanda, who were somehow ready to collaborate with the regime, there were others who found constant compromises to keep afloat even not unconditionally submit to the new rules. The article illustrates the main trends of this phenomenon, by focusing on the Mondadori case and illustrating some contradictions that characterized its editorial policy.

Secular Religion as a Tool for the Realization of Democratic Citizenship. The Thesis of John Dewey (1859-1952)
2021
This contribution aims to propose a critical reflection on a particularly complex theme for international pedagogical literature: religion. This will be done through a constant dialogue with John Dewey, a philosopher and pedagogist of American origin who, in addition to having dedicated himself to philosophical, political and pedagogical issues, has had interesting reflections on the religious phenomenon. Therefore, attention will be turned to such of his writings as Moral Theory and Practice of 1891, in which Dewey treated the religious question implicitly, wondering about human conduct and the need for it to be oriented by a morality that directed the individual towards the exercise of th…
Comunità
2022
This volume questions the community both as an increasingly emerging educational need in the post-modern societies, and as a human and universal vocation. To clarify the current oblivion of the sense of a community ethic, that especially distinguishes the new generations, educational practices and pedagogical theories are reconstructed that, throughout history, have favored a community tone. Finally, the gaze is turned to those educational challenges that today it is not possible to ignore in view of the formation of a community citizenship: individualism, materialism, virtual realities, multiculturalism. These are some tendencies that orient young people towards lonely lifestyles and that …
Training teachers for effective Citizenship and Intercultural Education. A best practice
2014
The paper aims at introducing the training methodology developed during the project “Training Citizenship and Intercultural Education: methods and resources for adult learning (Tra.C.I.E.)”. The project was funded in the framework of the Lifelong Learning Program (Grundtvig, Multilateral projects) and involved five organizations of different European countries (Italy, Bulgaria, Portugal, Romania, and Spain). Tra.C.I.E. methodology consists of a set of curricula for the training of the educators in the field of Citizenship and Intercultural Education. It was developed on the basis of an analysis of the main needs of the European educators, as well as considering the best practices already de…
