Synthesis of highly functionalized β-aminocyclopentanecarboxylate stereoisomers by reductive ring opening reaction of isoxazolines
2012
A rapid and simple procedure was devised for the synthesis of multifunctionalized cyclic β-amino esters and γ-amino alcohols via the 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of nitrile oxides to β-aminocyclopentenecarboxylates. The opening of the isoxazoline reductive ring to the corresponding highly functionalized 2-aminocyclopentanecarboxylates occurred stereoselectively with good yields.
The metabolic responses to electrical pulse-induced contractions in C2C12 myotubes are greater in high glucose medium
2021
Osaa liikunnan terveyshyötyjen mekanismeista on vaikeaa tutkia ihmisillä tai koe-eläimillä. Viljeltyjen C2C12 myotuubien sähköpulssistimulaatiolla (EPS, engl. electrical pulse stimulation) voidaan mallintaa lihassupistuksia ja liikuntaa in vitro –olosuhteissa.
Effects of progressive decrease of feeding frequency and re-feeding on production parameters, stomach capacity and muscle nutritional value in rainbo…
2020
Feeds and feeding constitute the major part of costs in intensive aquaculture. Any action to reduce feeding costs without negatively affecting fish production parameters and flesh quality would improve profitability of farming. Therefore, we studied the effects of feeding frequency on production parameters, stomach capacity and nutritional value of muscle in juvenile rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) in an experiment with two stages. First, during the nine-week “starvation period” we fed rainbow trout (initial weight c. 40 g) with four different feeding protocols in an attempt to adapt the fish to a progressive decrease in the number of feeding days. During the second stage, a four-week “…
Oxidovanadium(v) complexes with l-proline-based amino acid phenolates
2019
L-proline was used to prepare chiral, tridentate amino acid phenol proligands H2L1—4. These proligands react with vanadium precursors VO(acac)2, VOSO4 ∙ 5 H2O and VO(OPr)3 in methanol to form the corresponding oxidoalkoxidovanadium(V) complexes 1—4. The complexes crystallize from methanol, and are octahedrally coordinated with a general formula [VO(L1—4)(OMe)(MeOH)]. In solution, however, they adopt several different conformations or isomeric structures depending on the solvent. peerReviewed
The second life of terrestrial and plastic carbon as nutritionally valuable food for aquatic consumers
2023
Primary production is the basis for energy and biomolecule flow in food webs. Nutritional importance of terrestrial and plastic carbon via mixotrophic algae to upper trophic level is poorly studied. We explored this question by analysing the contribution of osmo- and phagomixotrophic species in boreal lakes and used 13C-labelled materials and compound-specific isotopes to determine biochemical fate of carbon backbone of leaves, lignin–hemicellulose and polystyrene at four-trophic level experiment. Microbes prepared similar amounts of amino acids from leaves and lignin, but four times more membrane lipids from lignin than leaves, and much less from polystyrene. Mixotrophic algae (Cryptomonas…
Photodegradation of Brilliant Green Dye by a Zinc bioMOF and Crystallographic Visualization of Resulting CO2
2021
We present a novel bio-friendly water-stable Zn-based MOF (1), derived from the natural amino acid L-serine, which was able to efficiently photodegrade water solutions of brilliant green dye in only 120 min. The total degradation was followed by UV-Vis spectroscopy and further confirmed by single-crystal X-ray crystallography, revealing the presence of CO2 within its channels. Reusability studies further demonstrate the structural and performance robustness of 1.
Enantiodifferentiation of N-benzyloxycarbonylaminophosphonic and phosphinic acids and their esters using cyclodextrins by means of capillary electrop…
2005
Capillary electrophoresis was successfully applied for separation of the enantiomers of N-benzyloxycarbonyl-alpha-aminophosphonic and alpha-aminophosphinic acids as well as their ethyl and phenyl monoesters with the use of a range of commercially available cyclodextrins (alpha, beta and hydroxypropyl-gamma-cyclodextrins) as chiral selectors. The dependence of effectiveness of separation on type and concentration of these chiral selectors as well as on pH of background electrolyte was examined in some detail.
Recent advances in the research on herbicidally active aminomethylelebisphosphonic acids.
1999
Influence of the mode of application of herbicidally active N-pyridylaminomethylenebi-sphosphonic acids on their uptake by plants was studied in some detail. The experimental evidence is given that accounts for a multiple mode of action of these herbicides.
Separation of aminoalkanephosphonic acid enantiomers by indirect UV detection capillary electrophoresis with application of cyclodextrins.
2003
Indirect UV detection capillary electrophoresis (CE) was used for the separation of aminoalkanephosphonic acid (AP) enantiomers by applying commercially available cyclodextrins as chiral discriminators. The results show that the separation of the enantiomers depends on pH of the background electrolyte, the molar ratio of cyclodextrin to aminophosphonic acid, and on the type of the applied chiral selector. Optimization of process conditions allowed enantiomeric baseline separation or partial separation of 12 out of 14 alpha-aminophosphonic acids studied. This type of CE might therefore be successfully used for routine determination of enantiomeric purity of aminophosphonic acids.
Sterol oxidation in ready-to-eat infant foods during storage.
2008
The effect of storage on sterol oxidation of ready-to-eat infant foods was evaluated. Two different flavor (honey -LH- or fruits-LF-) liquid infant foods, prepared with milk and cereals, were stored for 0, 2, 4, 7 and 9 months, at 25ºC. Sterol oxidation products (SOP) were extracted by cold saponification, purified by silica solid-phase and analyzed by gas chromatography (GC) and GC-mass spectrometry. -sitosterol was the most representative sterol, followed by cholesterol and campesterol. No significant differences in the total and single SOP content (0.8-1 mg/kg of product) were observed with respect to storage time and type of sample; the main SOP found was 7-ketositosterol (< …
