Käsittelemme artikkelissa suomalaisten nykytaiteilijoiden reaktioita vuoden 2015 ”pakolaiskriisiin” taiteellisen aktivismin näkökulmasta. Isolation of HTLV III/LAV from drug addicts in Palermo.

The new human retroviruses HTLV III/LAV, implicated as the causative agent of AIDS, have been isolated from peripheral blood lymphocytes of 5 of 13 drugs abusers with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome-related complex (ARC). In one patient the virus was also found in cell-free plasma. No HTLV III/LAV was detected in or isolated from 5 clinically healthy drug abusers. The lymphocytes were cultured with interleukin 2 and expressed either a transcriptase reverse activity or HTLV III/LAV antigens within 2-3 weeks of cultivation. Motor skill difficulties are mentioned as a common feature of Asperger syndrome (AS) but specific information regarding young adults is scarce. The purposes of this study were: to compare the motor skills of young adults with AS with age and gender matched controls using the updated version of the standardized Movement Assessment battery for children (M-ABC-II), and to compare the motor skills between younger and older participants within both groups (index and control group). In this article, we deal with the so-called ‘risky sexual behaviours’ and the spread of HIV/AIDS among the community of MSM (men who have sex with other men). For a long time, both the sociological analysis and the medical and epidemiological approach studied the behaviour of the gay population as “inherently” more problematic in terms of spreading the human immunodeficiency virus. For these studies, even more dangerous are those men who sell sex and sexual services. Perceived Benefit From Hearing Aid Use and Life-Space Mobility Among Community-Dwelling Older Adults

Objectives: To examine the association between perceived benefit from hearing aid (HA) use and life-space mobility among older adults. Method: Cross-sectional analysis of 76- to 91-year-old community-dwelling adults ( n = 702). Data on perceived hearing with and without a HA were obtained via postal questionnaire and data on life-space mobility (Life-Space Assessment, range = 0-120) via phone interview. Results: Participants who perceived more benefit from HA use, had a better life-space mobility score ( M = 65, SD = 2.6) than participants who had less benefit from using a HA ( M = 55, SD = 3.2). Audiologic and Subjective Evaluation of Baha ® Attract Device

We included 9 patients implanted with Baha® Attract. All our patients were evaluated by free field tonal audiometry, free field verbal audiometry and free field verbal audiometry with background noise, all the tests were performed with and without the device. To evaluate the subjective component of the implantation, we used the Glasgow Benefit Inventory (GBI) and Abbreviated Profile of Hearing Aid Benefit (APHAB). The auditive assessment with the device showed average auditive thresholds of 35.8dB with improvements of 25.8dB over the previous situation. Le App per smartphone possono essere utili per migliorare l’udito?L’obiettivo dello studio è quello valutare l’efficacia di un’App per smartphone creata con lo scopo di migliorare le performance uditive sia in soggetti normoudenti che in pazienti affetti da ipoacusia da lieve a severa. Si tratta di uno studio analitico multicentrico, eseguito tra giugno e dicembre 2017, che ha analizzato un campione di 68 pazienti di cui 55 ipoacusici e 13 normoudenti; a tutti i pazienti sono stati somministrati test audiologici specifici sia durante l’utilizzo della suddetta App che in assenza di ausili uditivi. Pro gradu- tutkielmani on filosofinen tutkimus tanssiteoksesta ja tanssiteoksen kohtaamisesta. Tutkielmani tarkoitus on tutkia tanssiteoksen tapahtumaluontoista olemusta, tanssiteoksessa tapahtuvaa tanssin liikkeen merkitysrakennetta sekä tanssiteoksen kohtaamisen problematiikka Martin Heideggerin (1889- 1976) filosofian ja taiteenontologian avaamassa ulottuvuudessa. Pro-gradu -työssäni tutkin Jussi Heikkilän lintuaiheista taidetta ihmistieteellisen eläintutkimuksen ja kriittisen posthumanismin näkökulmista. Tutkimukseni keskittyy tarkastelemaan minkälaisia merkityksiä linnut Heikkilän taiteessa saavat ja minkälaista käsitystä luonnon ja kulttuurin välisestä suhteesta hänen taiteensa lintujen kautta rakentaa. Samalla tarkastelen laajemmin eläinten ja luonnon esittämistä kuvataiteessa. Tutkin myös Heikkilän asemoitumista suomalaisten eläimiä ja luontoa käsittelevien nykytaiteilijoiden joukossa. Heikkilän taiteessa lintuharrastuksella ja lintujen tieteellisellä tutkimuksella on keskeinen merkitys. Taiteensa kautta hän tuo esille lintujen merkitystä tärkeä…
