Bis(cyclohexylammonium) tetrachlorido(oxalato)stannate(IV)
2013
The title salt, (C6H14N)2[Sn(C2O4)Cl4], was obtained as a by-product from the reaction between 2C6H14N+·C2O42−·1.5H2O and SnCl2·2H2O. The cyclohexylammonium cation has a chair conformation. The complex anion consists of an oxalate anion chelating the SnCl4 moiety, resulting in a distorted octahedral coordination sphere of the SnIV atom with the O atoms in equatorial cis positions. In the crystal, cations and anions are linked through N—H...O and N—H...Cl interactions into a layered arrangement parallel to (100).
On the Shape-Selected, Ligand-Free Preparation of Hybrid Perovskite (CH3NH3PbBr3) Microcrystals and Their Suitability as Model-System for Single-Crys…
2021
Hybrid perovskite materials are one of the most promising candidates for optoelectronic applications, e.g., solar cells and LEDs, which can be produced at low cost compared to established materials. Although this field of research has seen a huge upsurge in the past decade, there is a major lack in understanding the underlying processes, such as shape-property relationships and the role of defects. Our aerosol-assisted synthesis pathway offers the possibility to obtain methylammonium lead bromide (MAPbBr3 ) microcrystals from a liquid single source precursor. The differently shaped particles are aligned on several substrates, without using a directing agent or other additives. The obtained …
EMPLOYMENT OF CATIONIC SOLID-LIPID NANOPARTICLES AS RNA CARRIERS
2007
Gene transfer represents an important advance in the treatment of both genetic and acquired diseases. In this article, the suitability of cationically modified solid-lipid nanoparticles (SLN) as a nonviral vector for gene delivery was investigated, in order to obtain stable materials able to condense RNA. Cationic SLN were produced by microemulsion using Compritol ATO 888 as matrix lipid, Pluronic F68 as tenside, and dimethyldioctadecylammonium bromide (DDAB) as cationic lipid. The resulting particles were approximately 100 nm in size and showed a highly positive surface charge (+41 mV) in water. Size and shape were further characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) measurements. M…
Resistance of Immobilized Lactic Acid Bacteria to the Inhibitory Effect of Quaternary Ammonium Sanitizers
2001
Abstract The inhibitory effect of quaternary ammonium sanitizers (QAS) on the fermentation activity of lactic acid bacteria was investigated. Benzalkonium chloride and didecyl dimethyl ammonium chloride show the same inhibitory effect. In MRS agar medium and MRS liquid medium their minimum inhibitory concentration was below 2 μg/mL. Interfering molecules in milk increased this concentration of inhibitory QAS above 8 μg/mL. Both growth and acidification were decreased but by immobilizing cells in calcium alginate gel beads this inhibitory effect could be reduced. The longer the beads were used for successive acidification and were colonized by lactic acid bacteria, the better was the acidifi…
Cyclic triureas—synthesis, crystal structures and properties
2008
The synthesis of 24-membered macrocycles is described, in which rigid xanthene units (X) and/or diphenyl ether units (D) as flexible analogues are linked via urea groups. All four possible combinations (XXX, XXD, XDD, DDD) have been obtained with yields of 40-72% for the cyclisation step. In two cases, the respective cyclic hexamers (XXDXXD, XXXXXX) were also isolated. Two compounds have been characterised by a single crystal X-ray analysis of the free triurea (XXD, XDD) and one example (DDD) by its complex with tetrabutylammonium chloride. It shows the chloride anion in the centre of the macrocycle, held by six NH...Cl- hydrogen bonds. The interaction with various other anions has been stu…
Theoretical characterization of end-on and side-on peroxide coordination in ligated Cu2O2 models.
2006
The relative energetics of mu-eta1:eta1 (trans end-on) and mu-eta2:eta2 (side-on) peroxo isomers of Cu2O2 fragments supported by 0, 2, 4, and 6 ammonia ligands have been computed with various density functional, coupled-cluster, and multiconfigurational protocols. There is substantial disagreement between the different levels for most cases, although completely renormalized coupled-cluster methods appear to offer the most reliable predictions. The significant biradical character of the end-on peroxo isomer proves problematic for the density functionals, while the demands on active space size and the need to account for interactions between different states in second-order perturbation theor…
Synthesis and structure of mono-bridged resorcinarene host: a ditopic receptor for ammonium guests.
2009
The synthesis and structural properties of tetramethoxy resorcinarene mono-crown-5 (1) are described. The binding characteristics of 1 toward acetylcholine and tetramethylammonium salts were investigated by 1H NMR titration. It was observed that the cavity of 1 provides a better fit to acetylcholine compared to the smaller tetramethylammonium cation, as acetylcholine is able to interact with both the crown ether moiety and the free hydroxyl groups of receptor 1 simultaneously.
A linear Fe-O-Fe unit in bis(dibenzyldimethylammonium) mu-oxo-bis[tribromoferrate(III)].
2006
The title compound, (C 16 H 20 )N) 2 [Fe 2 Br 6 O], crystallizes with one dibenzyldimethylammonium cation and one half of a μ-oxo-bis[tribromoferrate(III)] anion in the asymmetric unit. The bridging oxo group is situated on an inversion centre, resulting in a linear conformation for the Fe-O-Fe unit. The iron(III) cations have tetrahedral geometry, with bond angles in the range 106.8 (1)-112.2 (1)°. The ion pairs are held together by Coulombic forces and C-H···Br hydrogen bonds. Each Br - anion forms one hydrogen bond. No C-H···O hydrogen bonds are found between the O atom in the Fe-O-Fe unit and surrounding counter-cations, consistent with the linear configuration of the Fe-O-Fe unit.
Ion-Pair Recognition of Tetramethylammonium Salts by Halogenated Resorcinarenes
2011
The non-covalent interactions of different upper-rim-substituted C(2)-resorcinarenes with tetramethylammonium salts were analyzed in the gas phase in an Electrospray Ionization Fourier-transform ion-cyclotron-resonance (ESI-FTICR) mass spectrometer and by (1)H NMR titrations. The order of binding strengths of the hosts towards the tetramethylammonium cation in the gas phase reflects the electronic nature of the substituents on the upper rim of the resorcinarene. In solution, however, a different trend with particularly high binding constants for halogenated resorcinarenes has been observed. This trend can be explained by a synergetic effect originating from the interaction of the halogenate…
Chelate Cooperativity and Spacer Length Effects on the Assembly Thermodynamics and Kinetics of Divalent Pseudorotaxanes
2011
Homo- and heterodivalent crown-ammonium pseudorotaxanes with different spacers connecting the two axle ammonium binding sites have been synthesized and characterized by NMR spectroscopy and ESI mass spectrometry. The homodivalent pseudorotaxanes are investigated with respect to the thermodynamics of divalent binding and to chelate cooperativity. The shortest spacer exhibits a chelate cooperativity much stronger than that of the longer spacers. On the basis of crystal structure, this can be explained by a noninnocent spacer, which contributes to the binding strength in addition to the two binding sites. Already very subtle changes in the spacer length, i.e., the introduction of an additional…
