Background: several studies report an increased risk for asthmatic subjects to develop arterial hypertension and the relationship between these two diseases, frequently co-existing, still has some unclear aspects. Methods: The BADA (blood pressure levels, clinical features and markers of subclinical cardiovascular damage of asthma patients) study is aimed to evaluate the prevalence of the cardiovascular comorbidities of asthma and their impact on the clinical outcome. Diplomdarbs pēta veidus, kā var bagātināt 9. klases skolēnu vārdu krājumu ar autentisko materiālu ieviešanu un izmantošanu angļu valodas stundās. Darba teorētiska daļa sniedz ieskatu par autentiskuma jēdzienu, autentisko materiālu izmantošanas priekšrocībām un trūkumiem valodas apguves procesa laikā un par apgūstāmas leksikas izvēles metodēm turpmākajai stundu plānošanai. Gadījuma analīze tika izvēlēta kā galvenā empīriskā pētījuma metode, kuras mērķis ir izpētīt izglītojamo leksikas kompetences līmeni. Diplomdarba mērķis ir izpētīt kā tiešsaistes uzdevumi ietekmē angļu valodas vārdu krājuma apguvi sākumskolā. Diplomdarba autore uzskata, ka vārdu krājuma apguve ir viens no nozīmīgākajiem valodas aspektiem, kam ir liela nozīme sākumskolas skolēnu mācīšanā. Diplomdarba mērķa sasniegšanai darba autore izvēlējas atsevišķa gadījuma pētījuma metodi. Metodes, kas tika izmantotas datu vākšanā, ir anketēšana, priekšpārbaude un pēcpārbaude. Lai pārbaudītu kā tiešsaistes uzdevumi ietekmē skolēnu vārdu krājuma bagātināšanos, kopumā tika novadītas četras mācību stundas. Conformational analysis of α,β-poly(N-hydroxyethyl)-dl-aspartamide (PHEA) and α,β-polyasparthydrazide (PAHy) polymers in aqueous solution

Abstract α,β-Poly(N-hydroxyethyl)- dl -aspartamide (PHEA) and α,β-polyasparthydrazide (PAHy) are synthetic polymers previously studied for biomedical applications. We report here the results of a small-angle X-ray scattering analysis carried out on these two macromolecules in aqueous solution. The data obtained indicate that the two polymers assume remarkably different conformations in aqueous solution, although the backbone is supposed to be the same for the two chains. Joint Aqueous Solutions of Dextran and Bovine Serum Albumin: Coexistence of Three Liquid Phases

The phase diagram of the system water/dextran (DEX)/BSA was measured as well as modeled. On the experimental side, cloud points were determined and the coexisting phases were analyzed. The theoretical calculations use an approach capable of describing solutions of chain polymers and of globular proteins with the same formalism. The required thermodynamic input comes from experiments concerning the binary subsystems, except for the polymer blend for which one interaction parameter had to be adjusted. Determination of the adiabatic compressibility of bovine serum albumen in concentrated solution by a new ultrasonic method

Abstract New data are presented for the adiabatic compressibility of bovine serum albumen (BSA) over the temperature range 2–85°C and at pH 5, 6, 7 and 8. The relative impact of intrinsic and hydration contributions to the observed compressibility for BSA is estimated and shown to agree very well with general values for globular protein and with previous results for BSA. The compressibility manifests a maximum value in the regions where BSA is most stable, exhibiting a parabolic dependence on temperature with lowest values where it is least stable.
