Absolutely continuous variational measures of Mawhin's type

Abstract In this paper we study absolutely continuous and σ-finite variational measures corresponding to Mawhin, F- and BV -integrals. We obtain characterization of these σ-finite variational measures similar to those obtained in the case of standard variational measures. We also give a new proof of the Radon-Nikodým theorem for these measures.

Quasispheres and metric doubling measures

2018

Applying the Bonk-Kleiner characterization of Ahlfors 2-regular quasispheres, we show that a metric two-sphere $X$ is a quasisphere if and only if $X$ is linearly locally connected and carries a weak metric doubling measure, i.e., a measure that deforms the metric on $X$ without much shrinking.

The scientific interest in the beneficial properties of natural substances has been recognized for decades, as well as the growing attention in extracellular vesicles (EVs) released by different organisms, in particular from animal cells. However, there is increasing interest in the isolation and biological and functional characterization of these lipoproteic structures in the plant kingdom. Robust optical readout and characterization of nuclear spin transitions in nitrogen-vacancy ensembles in diamond

Nuclear spin ensembles in diamond are promising candidates for quantum sensing applications, including rotation sensing. Here we perform a characterization of the optically detected nuclear-spin transitions associated with the 14N nuclear spin within diamond nitrogen vacancy (NV) centers. We observe nuclear-spin-dependent fluorescence with the contrast of optically detected 14N nuclear Rabi oscillations comparable to that of the NV electron spin. Using Ramsey spectroscopy, we investigate the temperature and magnetic-field dependence of the nuclear spin transitions in the 77.5-420 K and 350-675 G range, respectively. Human norovirus binding to select bacteria representative of the human gut microbiota

Recent reports describe the ability of select bacterial strains to bind human norovirus, although the specificity of such interactions is unknown. The purpose of this work was to determine if a select group of bacterial species representative of human gut microbiota bind to human norovirus, and if so, to characterize the intensity and location of that binding. Characterization of the 3D information of Calyptogena shells

We propose in this paper an application of multiresolution analysis techniques to extract information contained in the growth increments of a bivalve mollusk called: Calyptogena . The first stage consists in extracting a range image of the mollusk’s shell using a 3-D scanner. Applying a multiresolution analysis enables us to localize precisely those growth increments by preserving relevant details. Moreover, interesting spatial and frequency properties of the multiresolution analysis underline information contained on the shell.
