Investigation of superspreading COVID-19 outbreak events in meat and poultry processing plants in Germany: A cross-sectional study.

Since May 2020, several COVID-19 outbreaks have occurred in the German meat industry despite various protective measures, and temperature and ventilation conditions were considered as possible high-risk factors. This cross-sectional study examined meat and poultry plants to examine possible risk factors. Companies completed a self-administered questionnaire on the work environment and protective measures taken to prevent SARS-CoV-2 infection. Multivariable logistic regression analysis adjusted for the possibility to distance at least 1.5 meters, break rules, and employment status was performed to identify risk factors associated with COVID-19 cases. Chaotic Properties of Dilute Two and Three Dimensional Random Lorentz Gases II: Open Systems

We calculate the spectrum of Lyapunov exponents for a point particle moving in a random array of fixed hard disk or hard sphere scatterers, i.e. the disordered Lorentz gas, in a generic nonequilibrium situation. In a large system which is finite in at least some directions, and with absorbing boundary conditions, the moving particle escapes the system with probability one. However, there is a set of zero Lebesgue measure of initial phase points for the moving particle, such that escape never occurs. Assessment of the Reliability of the SPAC Method in Urban Areas

We have carried out several long-term measures of seismic noise with triangular arrays of broad-band seismic sensors, to investigate the reliability of the SPAC method in urban areas. We investigate the stationary and anisotropy of the microtremor wave field. We have found that the anisotropy of the microtremor wave field can be evaluated analyzing the HVNSR as function the azimuth. Furthermore, we showed as strong anisotropies in the microtremors are often observable in particular at high frequencies (> 1 Hz). A numerical meshless particle method in solving the magnetoencephalography forward problem

In this paper, a numerical meshless particle method is presented in order to solve the magnetoencephalography forward problem for analyzing the complex activation patterns in the human brain. The forward problem is devoted to compute the scalp potential and magnetic field distribution generated by a set of current sources representing the neural activity, and in this paper, it has been approached by means of the smoothed particle hydrodynamics method suitably handled. Nonlinear multivalued Duffing systems

We consider a multivalued nonlinear Duffing system driven by a nonlinear nonhomogeneous differential operator. We prove existence theorems for both the convex and nonconvex problems (according to whether the multivalued perturbation is convex valued or not). Also, we show that the solutions of the nonconvex problem are dense in those of the convex (relaxation theorem). Our work extends the recent one by Kalita-Kowalski (JMAA, https://doi.org/10.1016/j.jmaa. 2018.01.067).

Melt flow instability and vortex structures in Czochralski growth under steady magnetic fields

Abstract The hydrodynamics of melt motion in the CZ-process of silicon single crystal growth in axial and axial–radial magnetic fields is studied using a physical model. The modeling liquid is eutectics InGaSn. Most attention is paid to the problem of flow stability. A multi-channel system gathering data is used to define the pattern and dynamics of velocity disturbances. Instant spatial distributions of the electric potential induced by motion in the melt are obtained. Temporal evolution of the instant distributions in vertical and horizontal planes of the working volume is under investigation.

Rapid and Standardized Quantitation of Hemolytic Activity of the Fourth Component of Human Complement

Based on a method that uses the fourth component of complement (C4)-deficient guinea pig serum to quantify the hemolytic activity of C4, we developed an assay that allows the processing of a large number of individual samples with high reproducibility. In contrast to the conventional procedure using titration curves of each sample to be determined, we can show that a single appropriate dilution of the sample allows accurate quantitation of hemolytic activity. The reliability of the procedure is demonstrated using either C4A- or C4B- deficient and normal individual samples.

An analytical study of the ageostrophic motion of an air parcel

The complete ageostrophic motion of an individual air parcel is discussed. It is shown that the general velocity solution of the equation describing this motion may be expressed in terms of the well-known series approximation of Philipps and a rest term; this term describes the inertial motion of the air parcel about a given initial state.
