Synthesis of isomorphous cobalt and nickel thiocyanate coordination compounds: Effect of metals on compound properties

The reaction of 2-methylpiperazine with the thiocyanate ligand and two transition metals leads to the production of two new isomorphous [ML2SCN4] where L is the 2-methylpiperazine and [M =Co (1), and Ni (2)], presenting an octahedral configuration. These compounds were characterized by single crystal X-ray crystallography, TG-DTA analysis, as well as infrared and UV-Vis spectroscopy and TG-DTA. The magnetic and antibacterial properties were also determined. Through the link with N-H···S hydrogen bonds, a global 3D network was established. A Co36Cluster Assembled from the Reaction of Cobalt Pivalate with 2,3-Dicarboxypyrazine

A record Co36 cluster is prepared. This mixed-valent compound containing CoII and CoIII centers is formed in the reaction of a dinuclear cobalt pivalate species with the polydentate 2,3-dicarboxypyrazine ligand. Tumorscanning of malignomas and their metastatic nodules in head and neck is an enrichment of diagnostic possibilities. For the examination such substances can be used, which are tumoraffine and well to mark with a radio-isotope. Therefore we have marked the cytostatic drug Bleomycine with 57Co. Scans were performed with the Anger-Camera 4 to 6 hrs after intravenous injection of 1 mCi 57Co-Bleomycine. 60 patients with different malignomas have been examined, 46 with tumor-localization in head and neck, the others in thoraxabdomen. 34 (85%) of the head and neck malignomas could be demonstrated; 21 (81%) were squamous cell carcinomas, 13 (69%) sarcomas. Background and purpose: Brachytherapy treatment outcomes depend on the accuracy of the delivered dose distribution, which is proportional to the reference air-kerma rate (RAKR). Current societal recommendations require the medical physicist to compare the measured RAKR values to the manufacturer source calibration certificate.
